The innocent lives in their care?

We the people make the laws

That though Justice may be blind

She carries our sword and scales.

Thus that those who cannot

Speak nor fend for themselves be abused,

Molested, raped, exploited,

Let us scribe laws of steel

As might God burn in stone

That the innocent never be left

Radiation from Japan is a real threat

I don't care what anyone else says, anytime you have a release of radiation into the atmosphere from the melt down of a nuclear reactor you have a risk for the increase of the gross incidence of environmental mutation (GIEM) over time. This is because nuclear materials released into the atmosphere generally consists of particular matter which may have a very long half-life and remain hazardous in the environment for hundreds, even thousands of years! In the case of cesium-137 which has a half-live of 30 years, it may remain hazardous up to for up to 300 years! But in the case of plutonium-239, it has a half life of 24,000 years, which means it may remain hazardous for 240,000 years! That means any life form those particles come in contact with for hundreds or even thousands of years may be effected. It does not matter how diluted the radiation is, over time it will fall to the earth, come in contact with animals and plants, enter the food chain, and begin to cause mutations.

Of course those closest to a nuclear accident are at greatest risk to be effected by the radioactive particulate matter released into the atmosphere. They may develop cancers over time, especially if they remain in a contaminated area which increases their overall exposure to radiation over time. Remember, this radioactive material does not go away; some forms, like cesium-137 with a half life of 30 years, or strontium-90, with a half life or 29 years, will remain hazardous in the environment for hundreds of years. So where the fallout is extreme it may turn certain areas into dead zones.

This occurred at Chernobyl in 1986 when a reactor used to make material for nuclear bombs melted down and having no containment vessel resulted in radioactive material being released into high into the atmosphere for a number of months. A death zone with a radius of 30 kilometers was declared around the plant; however, people living in the area have sense been exposed to radiation through contaminated soil, water, plants or animals. If a bird flies into the area, drinks water, then is later shot and killed by a hunter who feeds the bird to his children, then the children are contaminated, even though they may live no where near the death zone. So you see, the reality of the situation is often much worse than what those who operate nuclear plants would like the public to know.

In the case of the nuclear accident in Japan we have a complex of nuclear reactors being damaged, plus containment pools where spent fuel rods are stored have caught fire when water used to cool the pools was lost due to power failure. These fuel rods became very hot, the water in the containment pool evaporated, then the rods caught fire. Explosions resulted and radioactive material was released into the atmosphere. This includes iodine-131 and cesium-137 which have half-lives of 8 days and 30 years, respectively. That means the radioactive iodine may be hazardous for up to about 80 days, where is can cause thyroid cancer in children, especially if they consume dairy products from cows exposed to the radiation. However, the cesium-137 can rain to the earth and contaminate soil and water for up to 300 years! That means a death zone could be formed around the nuclear power plant for a radius of 10 to 20 kilometers or more, depending upon how much fallout there is. Prevailing winds may have carried much of the fallout over the ocean, which means it may rain down into the water. Sea water is very good at diluting such radioactive fallout; however, the radioactive particulate mater may still enter the food chain when fish and mollusk ingest the mutagen agents. That means that over time people may become exposed by eating contaminated food harvested from the sea. Although this may constitute a very small risk, if your child is the one that develops thyroid cancer or a worse malignancy, this represents a terrible tragedy to you and your family!

Note: I personally had a brother who was born in 1946 with mental retardation, during the years of above ground nuclear bomb testing. He developed thyroid cancer at the age of 43. This resulted in removal of his thyroid gland and the necessity to be upon medication for the rest of his life. Who is to say this his mental retardation and later cancer was not due to exposure to radioactive fallout from above ground testing of nuclear bombs during the 1940's, 50's and 60's? Of course my parents were both heavy smokers and carcinogens from tobacco products could have also caused my brother's mental retardation and cancer later in life. In any case, it is imperative that parents limit their exposure and exposure of their children to mutagen agents, be that from radiation or chemical substances.

How may the nuclear accident in Japan in the aftermath of the 8.9 earthquake and devastating tsunami effect America? It is very unlikely that any significantly high levels of radiation will reach the United States from Japan. However, any military personnel or American citizens in the area near the nuclear power plant which has released radiation into the atmosphere could experience increased levels of radiation and not be aware of it unless they are wearing a radiation sensor.

What people don't tell you is that this stuff is not going away any time soon, especially if significant amounts of cesium-137 or strontium-90 are released into the atmosphere. Even though particulate matter becomes extremely diluted in the atmosphere and will be spread far and wide around the world, each particle of radioactive material is capable of mutating genes in animals and plants. That means when these toxic agents rain out of the sky they contaminate the water, plants and animals and enter the food chain. The radioactive dust which falls into the ocean will contaminate fish and other marine life -- plus it may be concentrated in mollusks. Although diluted, still every particle will remain around for hundreds of years and over that time may act as a mutagen effecting every living organism it comes into contact with over a very long, long time. That is one reason that cancers have been on the increase since the dawn of the nuclear era -- what the governments do not want people to know is that this stuff sticks around and keeps effecting every living organism it comes in contact with for what amounts to many times our life times.

For example, lets say the radioactive plume of dust and debris which exploded and rose into the atmosphere high over Japan drifts out to sea. As the radioactive dust cloud disperses the level of radiation decreases, yet each and every particle of radioactive material remains and is able to cause mutations; i.e., cancer. If the radioactive dust falls into the ocean it may be ingested by fish ... say a school of mackerel. Those fish may be eaten by larger fish and before you know it these fish are harvested and end up on our dinner tables. Those tiny particles of radioactive material are still in the fish and will end up in whoever eats those fish. Perhaps birds will eat some of the fish. Maybe whales will eat some of them. But eventually people will be eating fish or other plants and animals which contain radioactive material that was released into the atmosphere by those power plants in Japan. Mollusks also may concentrate radioactive particular matter and when people eat these they may be contaminated. This is especially a concern in areas of the world where there is extreme poverty and fishermen harvest from the sea and do not check their harvest for contaminants, such as heavy metals or radioactive particular matter.

What is so terrible about exposure to radiation is that its effects may not be seen for years. It is all a matter of probability really, and how much radiation one is exposed to over time. But here is something they (parties which profit from marketing contaminated produce) often don't tell you: these probability factors are all based upon a mean value, and some people will be in the middle, some below the middle, and some above the middle. If you are one of the unlucky ones, you may be above the mean, which means you win! You get cancer at a younger age because somewhere along the line you ingested a tiny bit of particular matter which was radioactive. It could have come from Russia with love or from Japan with denial that there is anything at all to worry about, for what harm can come to America from a little bit of glowing dust?

In truth the radioactive dust does not glow; you can only see such scintillation if you mix the radioactive material with a phosphorescent agent like that which is on the inside or a TV tube or old-style computer monitor -- glow in the dark watch faces are made in this fashion and contain a trace amount of radioactive material. If you go into a totally dark room and let your eyes adjust to the dark, then examine the glowing area of a watch under a 10X magnifying glass, you can actually see the tiny flashes of light each time an atom is excited by impact with a particle of radiation. Unfortunately there is no way to see or sense each time our body is bombarded by radiation; generally what is referred to as background radiation in the environment is very low. But it can be higher if you live in a home where radon gas from the foundation of your house or concrete blocks or bricks seeps into the home and is concentrated. Radiation also comes from other devices found in the home like smoke alarms. Plus you are exposed to radiation every time you are X-rayed at a hospital or go through an X-ray machine at an airport. Unless you wear a radiation detector from birth to death you will never know exactly how much radiation you are exposed to during your life time. The point is, you want to keep your exposure to a minimum, because radiation causes mutation of genes, and that translates to cancer.

The increase in cancer with age is ultimately the result of exposure to mutagen agents including radioactive particulate matter in the environment. Every time there is a nuclear accident or disaster and radioactive material leaks or explodes into the atmosphere, the gross incidence of environmental mutation (GIEM) is increased. It is worse for babies and children as they will live the longest and hence have the greatest probability of being exposed to the higher dosages of radiation that are in the environment.

Remember, we are talking about radioactive material from a nuclear power plant, which is really terrible stuff that may have a half-life of 30 years and remain hazardous for as long as 300 years. If a tiny particle of this dust finds its way into the food chain and you eat it, your risk of cancer is increased. If a tiny particle of this dust finds its way into your lungs, your risk of cancer is increased -- even if you cannot detect the particle and even it it doesn't find its way into your lungs for another five, ten or fifteen years -- when it does, then your risk of getting cancer increases. This may only be a minute amount, but when coupled with all the other background radiation one is exposed to it still represents an increased amount. Then if you are one of the unfortunate ones who develops cancer from an "unknown cause" just remember, I told you so!

With this in mind you may ask yourself if nuclear power plants in the US are safe? If nothing else, the disaster in Japan should signal the alarm that some of our nuclear plants are outdated. Any nuclear power plant which is more than 50 years old needs to be shutdown and/or replaced. Any nuclear power plant which is 20 or more years old needs to be upgraded especially with respect to computer technology and robotics. In fact, with the advances in computer technology and robotics it should be possible to design a new class of fail safe nuclear power plant that could be serviced by robots even in the even of a nuclear accident.

Nuclear power plants do not last forever. They need to be regularly updated to reflect advances in technology and maintained to achieve a high degree of safety. In fact, Murphey's Law of Nuclear Accidents which says, "If anything can go wrong with a nuclear reactor it will go wrong sooner or later especially if not properly maintained, " is very much in effect for all nuclear power plants. The problem is, over time inflation increases the cost to build, service, upgrade and maintain nuclear power plants. So the tendency is to not allocate money to upgrade old nuclear power plants or to not build new nuclear power plants and phase out the old nuclear power plants. This means there may be nuclear accidents just waiting to happen wherever there is an old nuclear power plant that is still online.

To avoid the consequences of future nuclear power plant catastrophes one solution would be to drill fail safe holes beneath reactors such that in a disaster an explosive device could be detonated to demolish a reactor and drop the reactor deep into the earth that it might then be sealed with earth and concrete. Such technology if properly designed would even make it possible to replace a nuclear reactor that may have suffered a melt down and dumped into a deep fail safe hole in the earth. This is essentially how underground testing of nuclear bombs is done; a hole is drilled deep into the earth and a nuclear bomb is exploded; then the hole is covered up. Well, the same principle can be used to expose of a nuclear reactor if there is a melt down simply by drilling a deep hole beneath the reactor that it will fall into this fail safe hole if ever there is a melt down.

Of course building a new class of fail safe nuclear power plants like that I have described and replacing old nuclear power plants with new fail safe nuclear power plants, is an expensive proposition and can only be done over time. However, having a long term plan to upgrade nuclear power plants and make them almost disaster proof using fail safe drop holes would greatly reduce the risk of nuclear melt downs contaminating the environment in the future and would be worth the effort and expense as it would avoid the possibility of creating death zones should worse come to worse and everything go wrong as it has in Japan after the earthquake and tsunami.

That said, the reality of the situation is that radiation from Japan is a real threat not only in Japan but to America and the rest of the world. The gross incidence of environmental mutation (GIEM) will go up in proportion to the amount of radioactive material released. The environment will be contaminated; animals and plants will be effected and the incidence of mutations; hence cancer, will go up over time. There will be more mutations seen in the environment, especially in areas close to the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear complex In some places around the world there will be more frogs or toads with six toes or two heads. There may even be human babies with six toes also and perhaps even two heads. Then there will be more cases of people with cancer. No one will attribute these mutations to radiation released into the environment by man; why that might not be good PR for the power companies. But that's okay, of course, as long as it isn't you.

Declare War on Somali Pirates

The United States should immediately declare war upon Somalia pirates and announce that it will seize all vessels participating in acts of piracy or blow them out of the water!

Recently (late Feb. 2011) four Christian missionaries who spent their life savings to buy Holy Bibles to give to poor people around the world were killed by Somali pirates. Then only four days later Somali pirates hijacked a Danish Yacht with 7 people, including 3 children. Also the AP recently reported that, "Somali pirates commandeered a Greek-owned cargo vessel with 23 crew members," citing the European Union Naval Force. It said, "The MV Dover was hijacked in the northern Arabian Sea, 260 miles northeast of the the Omani port of Salalah, during a planned voyage from Yemen to Pakistan.

Such acts of piracy should not be tolerated by the United States or its allies. We have the means to control the high seas and to end such acts of piracy by using whatever force is necessary. This should also include action to invade Somalia port cities and seize any vessels that have been previously hijacked, to return them to their rightful owners, and to destroy all compounds or property identified as that belonging to Somali hijackers.

This may seem like strong words, but such strong action is necessary if America and its allies are to retain any respect with regard to US Naval supremacy in the Indian Ocean and Arabian Sea. Plus, if we do not take strong action to end piracy by Somali pirates, the millions upon millions of dollars they continue to receive in ransom for people, cargo and vessels will just continue to fund future acts of piracy and international terrorism.

The high seas are not Afghanistan where terrorists can hide in caves up in remote mountainous areas and mingle with the local tribal population. There is no where for pirates to hide on the open sea; they are wide open and we have the military superiority to take them all out. What we lack is the will or the gumption. What are we afraid of and why do we allow such acts of piracy to continue?

Are we afraid of how the rest of the world will view us if we exert force to destroy Somali pirates? Are we afraid that destroying pirates will cause more unrest in the Mid-east? Well, I'm not sure those are valid reasons for permitting piracy by Somali pirates to continue. Inaction makes the US and our allies look weak and only prompts more acts of piracy. Thus more innocent people will be hurt or killed by the Somali pirates in the future.

I realize the Arabian Sea covers a vast territory. But it would be possible to easily secure the coast of Somali with a blockade and to invade Somalia and establish a free port and command base of operations that could be made secure if the US just had the will to take the necessary steps to secure the region from acts of future piracy. If properly done the security thus provided would greatly contribute to the stability of the region in the future. In fact, if we established a base upon the Horn of Africa it might greatly aid in securing peace in the region for the next hundred years or longer.

Historically acts of piracy upon the high seas are greatly condemned by the majority of nations in the free world. It should be easy for both the Republicans and the Democrats to agree upon a declaration of war against the Somali pirates and all who harbor them; plus this should be a declaration that Obama and his administration should support, given it would be designed to bring peace and security to the area which is now under the power and control of uncivilized Somali pirates. Plus I would imagine that the majority of our allies would support any action taken to secure the high seas against Somali pirates, especially those nations and large companies who have suffered losses to the Somali pirates in the past.

By having Congress make a Declaration of War against Somali pirates we would then be justified in taking whatever military action is required to resolve the situation and would be doing it openly and honestly, rather than as a police action or undeclared military action as has often been done in so many situations in the past. Plus, it would be very good to establish a naval and/or military base in Somalia to control the Gulf of Aden and entry into the Red Sea.

This said, those who might view such strong action as unwarranted should note that we the people of the United States have no ill will toward the majority of good people in Somalia ... it is only the pirates and those who harbor them that we should take up arms to defend the free world against. There are many good people in Somalia and those who are just struggling to survive we may embrace with aid; but those who turn to piracy we should annihilate and destroy, especially when they pose a threat to the free and loving souls of the world who are only trying to make it a better place by worshiping a God of love.

Yes, I realize that it may sound contradictory to be recommending war against the Somali pirates in one breath and then preaching about a God of love in the next. But if you believe there is good and evil in the world, then there is nothing wrong with fighting for God and country, for freedom and liberty against all that is evil and corrupt. That is basically what the United States of America has endeavor to do historically when we waged war against Nazi German and Imperialist Japan during World War II. It is also what we did in during the Korean War and Vietnam War as well as the Cold War against communist Russia. So why should we cower away from doing what would be right and just to secure the high seas against Somali pirates who are evil, inhumane and anti-God.

Certainly the world would be better off without Somali pirates and the majority of humanity would thank America for taking action to secure the high seas against future acts of piracy. Plus this would set a precedent for how future acts of piracy might be dealt with around the world. If we declare war on the Somali pirates and bring them to justice, it will go a long way to deterring future acts of piracy all around the world, and so make the high seas safe for all of humanity.

One last though: The Horn of Africa includes that region where man as a species is believed to have first evolved. All the people of the world may be traced back to this region of the globe, genetically linked to that Eve of Genesis where the fossil bones of our ancient ancestors have been discovered in dried earth. Thus the Horn of Africa justifiably belongs to all the people of the world and we would have as much right to be there as does anyone else. It would thus be fitting that our great nation reclaim a piece of the Horn of Africa for civilized humanity and perhaps turn it back into a Garden of Eden. God only knows the Somalis are never going to do much with the Horn of Africa except use it to plunder the high seas.

Thou shall not bully!

How can anyone be so ignorant as not to understand the difference between bullying and freedom of speech and expression? I’m referring to the editorial, “New buzz word that will take away your freedom” by Wade C. Bolen, publisher of the Clarke County Tribune, Dec. 2, 2010, pA4. Since when was bullying a freedom? Bullying is a form of abuse whether by children or adults and anyone who thinks they have a God given right to bully or abuse others is mistaken.

It is utterly appalling that anyone in the position of publishing a newspaper can be so misinformed and misguided as to not be aware of why it is our civic duty and responsibility to be ever vigilant toward bullies, predators, child molesters, wife beaters, animal abusers, and other brutish people, be they men or women, as to allow these behaviors leads to even worse behavior such at murdering fellow human beings.

A bully is one who uses force to gain power and control over another individual. Children who are bullies can turn into adults who beat their children or their wives -- or if too angered, kill them. Young people who beat up on their peers turn into men and women who cannot maintain relationships, do not know how to love, and often go through one failed marriage after another because no one in their right mind is going to stay married to a brut and a bully.

Our world is rapidly changing and such technologies like the Internet have shown how young people can bully others on-line to cause such deep and profound mental distress that children kill themselves. In other cases those bullied have sometimes armed themselves to the teeth and lashed out killing their fellow students and teachers in horrible mass murders. Then there are the Mel Gibsons of the world who play warlord fictional characters yet in real life express serious psychological problems and borderline personality behavior issues, beating up on women and children with their fowl mouths and violently raging tempers, seeking to gain power and control over their victims.

I would suggest that if the publisher of a newspaper does not understand the difference between freedom of speech and bullying that they should NOT be publishers as they set a very bad precedent and example for the community. The result is usually censorship which begins with limiting the length of editorial letters, an attempt to indoctrinate the public with political propaganda by bringing in outsiders as guest columnists, and ultimately gaining power and control of their little space of newsprint, using it to beat up on citizens, calling them liars, racists, or otherwise assaulting their good character -- all unjustified acts I've had done to me by a bully pulpit publisher.

Yes, a bully can be a newspaper publisher. Anyone who uses their position like a mad bull, enraged with too mush testosterone, to beat up on others to gain power and control over them is a bully. When there is only one political party, one newspaper, one king, dictator, despot, or tyrant, you get extreme forms of bullying. Everything from the Inquisition to genocide by The Third Riche was bullying taken to the extreme.

Is Clark County being bullied by a publisher who can’t tell the difference between freedom of speech and bullying? Are we being censored by a bully pulpit publisher who is so blinded by their own distorted perception of reality and life that they see bullying and abuse as a God given right? Perhaps. Therefore I’m starting an open forum on entitled The Free Press, with a link at www.freepress.byteland.org where everyone can come and freely speak their minds about important issues. Let’s come together and show the bullies and censors we won’t let you bully us any more! What you are doing is WRONG and the fact you cannot even see the difference between bullying and freedom of speech makes that perfectly clear!

So people, come to The Free Press and speak you mind. Let’s show the blind leading the blind publisher of the Clarke County Tribune that we ain’t going to take your bullying or your ignorance anymore. It is not only WRONG, it ultimately hurts the entire community!

How to win the war on terrorism and get even with Rolling Stone

When are presidents going to learn to leave fighting wars to the generals? And when are generals going to learn to not insult or disrespect their Commander in Chief? The resignation of General Stanley McChrysta benefits only our enemies, the Taliban and al-Qaida, and is NOT good for America.

I think it was very foolish for a general to permit a reporter from Rolling Stone magazine to travel around with him and his staff and have access to private discussions and conversations. Any one who knows anything about Rolling Stone magazine and is a general would not let one of their unethical gossip monger, fame, fortune and glory seeking tabloid journalist any where within a 100 miles of a general, especially not in the middle of war!

I believe in freedom of the press, but war is hell and you have to have secrets. Often it is secrets that win wars. You don't broadcasts your movements. You don't let the enemy know what is on the minds of the generals who plan and implement strategy. And you certainly don't allow unethical reporters free access to top commanders in the mists of a war, for risk they will publish information that would be useful to the enemy.

If I were President Obama I'd issue an executive order prohibiting press access to high command and officers in the field. This is not as issue of freedom of press; it is an issue of security. One aspect of security relates to discipline of forces and obeying orders from the President on down the chain of command to the lowest man on the totem poll out there digging fox holes, hiding behind rocks, fighting for their life! When permitting access to commanders at any level jeopardizes the security of forces on the ground, then you must fix the problem by kicking the press out!

War is hell and sometimes it simply is very foolish and unwise to let the press have free access to commanders in the field. But you know what, I believe General Stanley McChrysta knew this all along. I believe he wanted to create a situation where he would have to resign because I believe he wants to go into politics. I'd not be surprised if he runs for office in the next election or on down the road!

As an Army brat I grew up listing to my father talk about General Dogulas MacArthur, who he served under in WWII and the campaign to retake the Philippines. My father won two Bronze Stars in combat in the Pacific and later also served under MacArther during the Korean War. He was a leader of men and believed that Harry S. Truman was way out of line in 1951, that he should have left the fighting of the war to General McArthur, who is most remembered perhaps for his eloquent statement that, "Old soldier never die, they just fade away." My Dad would often preach how Truman was gutless, with such evocative expressions as, "To hell with the communist forces! We should have let MacArthur blow them to hell if that's what it came down to! It would have been best for everyone!"

Maybe my father was right. One thing is for certain, where there is a widely published conflict between the Commander in Chief and any of his generals during a time of war, it benefits only our enemies. That is why in this modern age of instant communication, where it is especially difficult to control communications, it is vital, a matter of life and death, that a free press NOT be permitted access to command and control officers, their staff, or anywhere near a headquarters or field operations command unit. To do so risks everything from leaking of critical classified information to the such ridiculous situations as that of a Rolling Stone tabloid journalist publishing private statements that would cause the resignation of a very fine general.

If I were General Stanley McChrysta I'd sue Rolling Stone magazine and put them out of business. I've never liked that magazine anyway, as they were greatly responsible for popularizing the drug culture in America which misguided many young people and caused them to be hurt and harmed, their lives destroyed, by blowing away their minds on everything from alcohol and marijuana to LSD and psilocybin magic mushrooms! I would not be unhappy to see Rolling Stone magazine get hit with a law suit by General McChrysta, especially if President Obama joined in the claim!

Whatever happens, my thoughts and prayers are with the men and women of our fighting forces in Afghanistan, Iraq and around the world. God bless America! Keep us free and bring our soldiers home safely ... leaving not an opium poppy standing, nor a Taliban to profit upon the opiates derived from their latex sap. The terrorists in Afghanistan, you see, are funded by the opium poppy, and the war on terrorism could be won quite easily by total eradication of opium poppies! Now I may not be a general, but I'm certain about that! So if you're listening President Obama, and want to win this war, wage it against the poppy and get even with Rolling Stone while you're at it!

Boycott BP: Drilling for oil is risky business but BP should take full responsibility

The explosion of the Deepwater Horizon which killed 11 people and has resulted in the biggest oil spill in US history should have taught us that drilling for oil is risky business. This is not child’s play, but a deadly game. The risks increase with off shore drilling operations; the deeper beneath the surface one drills, the greater are the perils as has been clearly demonstrated by the sinking of Deepwater
Horizon.

Indeed, the name Deepwater Horizon has now taken upon a whole other meaning, one that is ominous in nature rather than symbolic of exploring new horizons. Just like the Titanic struck an iceberg and sank upon its maiden voyage, the Deepwater Horizon has exploded, sank into the deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico, and has now polluted the pristine gulf waters, threatening to destroy the lives of fishermen, those who depend upon the associated tourist industry, and to further destroy the beaches, wetlands and wildlife of the Gulf Coast ecosystem.

How should we respond to this ecological disaster? How should money granted to the various states by BP be used? What can we each do to lessen the hurt and harm done by this catastrophe? Should we just pout and blame Obama, trying to turn the BP oil spill into Obama’s Katrina? Or should we look for ways that we can each help those who have been hurt and harmed the most by this tragedy?

I suggest that after praying for the victims of the oil spill and their families, that we each try to help in whatever way we can. I personally think everyone should boycott BP, cut up their BP gas credit cards, and use alternative sources of
gas and energy where possible. This should include using the money granted to the various states to invest in clean, renewable sources of energy, like wind generated power and solar power. We should not waste this money on trying to advertise to get people to come to Mississippi at a time when oil threatens the gulf coast. Rather, we should invest that money wisely to promote small businesses in Mississippi which foster alternative sources of energy. Also the funds might be spent to support the rescue of wildlife, fisheries, and other projects that will help in the recovery of the hurt, harm and damage done by the oil spill to marine animals, birds and other wildlife.

Yes, drilling for oil a mile beneath the ocean’s surface is risky business, as is coal mining deep within the earth’s surface. There are great risks associated with any large operation such as building a damn to harness hydroelectric power or maintaining an electric power grid to supply power to homes and businesses everywhere. The fact that there is risk associated with any given utility provider or large industrial operation does not mean we should stop
developing our natural resources. But it does mean we should learn from our mistakes, value life as most precious, and not cut corners. It also means taking responsibility for our actions!

BP has indicated they wish to pass blame to others, to be responsible only for clean up, and not all other associated damages with respect to the megalithic oil spill. That is where I take issue with BP. I think BP should be held accountable for all damaged, for all hurt and harm associated with the oil spill. The $25-million dollar grants to various Gulf Coast states, though a large sum of money, does not even begin to compensate for the loss many people are suffering. The fishing industry and the tourist industry are billion dollar industries and it may take generations to recover from the BP oil spill. Thus $25-million dollars is a drop in the bucket, a mere bribe to politicians and the various states to move forward with fossil fuel power production rather than invest in clean,
renewable energy development. Why it was only days after receiving this grant that the Kemper County coal burning power plant, which had been put on hold given Mississippi Power agree to restrictions, was permitted! I smell a rat!

We should learn our lesson and stop giving in to the big oil and big utility companies! We need more restrictions, more safety, more responsibility, not less! Therefore I feel a boycott of BP is warranted. Plus every state effected by
the BP oil spill should seek the maximum amount of money they can from BP. Louisiana is already asking BP for some $325-million. Mississippi, Alabama and Florida should do the same. But I believe each state should be asking for at
least a billion dollars because it is going to take that much just to begin to recover from all the mess, goo and pollution this oil spill has already cost.

I would not put it past BP to change their name to something like “AmeriOil” after this mess, that they can try to disassociate themselves with the biggest oil spill in US history. After the Exxon Valdez oil spill, the oil tanker was renamed so that it would not be associated with that largest of oil spills. We should not let BP get away with the hurt, harm and injury they have done to people, to wildlife, and to the ecology by the massive oil spill which threatens to tarnish and darken what is a wonderful region, that jewel and treasure which is the Gulf Coast of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida! All who live or visit this great natural resource fall in love with the sea, the white sand beaches and the relaxed lifestyle. To think that that may all be lost by the irresponsibility of BP to accept ALL THE BLAME for this ecological disaster is simply NOT ACCEPTABLE!

The American Cancer Society is using convict labor in its Relay for Life preparations at a fund raiser in Quitman, Mississippi. On May 14, 2010 a visit to the old Mill Warehouse located at the south end of town in Quitman, revealed that non-punitive convict labor under the watching eyes of armed guards was being used in preparations for the Clarke County Relay for Life, an annual fund raising event which is sponsored by the American Cancer Society.

Verlynn Robinson, Event Chairperson, said that with the poor economy times were hard for everyone, but she did not mention just how hard they were for the American Cancer Society, which is now utilizing non-punitive convict labor in preparation for its fund raising events. Convicts were observed preparing "luminaries" which are memorial tributes to the victims of cancer. The convicts were standing around a container of sand filling paper bags. Each paper bag had the name of someone's most dearly departed loved one who had died from cancer. A short distance away an armed guard sat, firearm strapped to his waistline, at the entrance to the old Mill Warehouse. No one was going to escape from this Relay for Life!

Robinson said this years goal was to raise $105,000.00 by August 1st. Yet times were hard and they were way behind schedule with donations. So far they had raised only about $55,000.00. Hopefully that amount will rise after the Clarke County Relay for Life, and certainly the usage of non-punitive convict labor makes things a little easier and cheaper. Apparently such non-punitive labor is viewed as giving inmates the opportunity to rehibilitate themselves or make a positive contribution to the community through their labor; hence, this years Clarke County Relay for Life in Quitman employed such non-punitive convict labor in its preparation.

ADDENDUM: Sometime after this article was initially published on-line I received an email from the Mayor of Quitman objecting to my usage of the term "forced" convict labor. Mayor Eddie Fulton politely informed me that this terminology was not "factual" as prisoners who "volunteered" to work were given an extra meal at the end of the day, instead of their normal two meals, and that this also helped work off their fines. Mr. Fulton said, "Prisoners have a choice! They are fed twice a day, but if they volunteer to work they get another meal and the freedom of being outside prison walls. Several prisoners have outstanding fines and have asked the Court to let them work outside to pay off their fines. Many prisoners want to be outside and jump at the chance to work." So enlightened, I decided to replace "forced" convict labor with the term "non-punitive" convict labor, given that term has been widely used for convict labor which may serve some beneficial or rehalibative purpose.

Looking around I saw that the walking course was well on its way to being completed. Those convicts were doing a very good job, filling the luminaries and setting them around the walking course. Tomorrow teams would come and the public would enter the old Mill Warehouse and walk around the course, paying tribute to cancer victims. Cancer survivors would be wearing T-shirts to identify them as survivors. I wondered if it was generally known that the American Cancer Society was now using non-punitive convict labor to prepare the memorial tributes to dearly departed souls, those who have become victims of this terrible disease?

As I looked around the old Mill Warehouse I notices a large photograph of Elvis Presley -- at least it looked like Elvis. Apparently the entertainment scheduled for this years Clarke County Relay for Life tomorrow included the appearance of Shane Tucker, an Elvis impersonator from Foley, Alabama. As I watched the convicts fill the luminaries with sand, laboring in the heat of the old Mill Warehouse, sounds of "Jail House Rock" came to mind. I wondered what Elvis might think and if the Elvis impersonator would be playing that classic tune on the 'morrow when the public gathered to walk around and around the course of luminaries, each flickering with candles lit and spirits of loved ones lost to cancer remembered by those gathered. Yet did anyone even realize non-punitive convict labor was used to to make those luminaries?

I thought that the American Cancer Society was a well funded, large organization, supported by the general public which wanted to find a cure for cancer. I did not know that the American Cancer Society endorsed using non-punitive convict labor in its Relay for Life fund raising events. I certainly was not aware of the fact that in these "hard for everyone" economic times force convict labor was used to make the luminaries. Somehow learning this fact made me wonder why those luminaries could not be made by volunteers, by everyone who wanted to help freely and give of their time to freely help the American Cancer Society. Why was it necessary to resort to non-punitive convict labor to make luminaries? In fact, the more I think about it I am quite disturbed by the fact that people do not care enough to lend a hand to the local Clarke County Relay for Life, that volunteers might be making those luminaries, instead of convicted criminals!

It was hot in the old Mill Warehouse, a huge steel building which use to house a machinery for making fabric. But the mill had closed down and was now empty, as are many old cotton mills in the deep south, the cost of labor simply being too high such that many of the textiles which we now buy in America are produced off shore in nations like India, China, Singapore and the Philippines. Now the old Mill Warehouse lies silent and the only reason this year's Clarke County Relay for Life is being held there is because bad weather caused it to be cancelled and moved indoors, the large size of the old Mill Warehouse and the fact that the building was vacant and had plenty of parking space, making it the perfect location for the Clarke County Relay for Life.

The convicts making the luminaries were wearing white T-shirts and bright orange, neon colored pants, which made them stand out among everyone else as they filled the paper bags with sand. I had seen convicts working around Quitman before; this was quite common given Quitman is the Clarke County seat. Both the Clarke County Courthouse and the Clarke County Correctional Office or jailhouse are located in Quitman. So it was not unusual to see non-punitive convict labor being used on public projects and public highways. Often non-punitive convict labor is used to clean up litter and debris along highways, in public parks, or do other manual labor work on public property. On one occasion I even saw a labor force of bright orange appareled convicts working upon the Clarke County Courthouse roof. But I was not aware of the fact that non-punitive convict labor could legally be used by the American Cancer Society to prepare luminaries. The American Cancer Society is a nonprofit organization; it is not a State of Mississippi agency. How can non-punitive convict labor be used by a nonprofit organization, even in these hard economic times, without this being a violation of the law?

I suppose things are done a little different in Quitman. After all Quitman is a small rural town and hard economic times means sky rocketed unemployment such that everyone who might volunteer is struggling to survive and feed their own families. Who would even notice if a few convicts are taken over to the old Mill Warehouse and used to make luminaries for the American Cancer Society? Plus it is for a very good cause. Certainly the convicts themselves may benefit from being put to work to support this very good cause. Reading the "Crime Report" every week in the Clarke County Tribune I see these convicts are not exactly model citizens. There are arrest reports for possession of marijuana, alcohol, disorderly conduct, trespassing, robbery, assaults, and sometimes even worse offenses -- which probably land those convicted in a state correctional institute. But those who have not killed someone or committed some other really terrible crime end up in the Clarke County jailhouse and are often seen around town under the watchful eye of an armed guard as they clean up litter or contribute their labor to other public work projects. I just did not know that now the American Cancer Society was so hard pressed for volunteers that it was using non-punitive convict labor!

Obviously the need for money is great and in these hard economic times there is simply not enough money to support all those vital causes such that now the American Cancer Society is having to resort to non-punitive convict labor to prepare its fund raising events. If nothing else this sad situation should make everyone realize how important it is that they make a contribution to the American Cancer Society. God only knows if Clarke County Relay for Life Committees are using non-punitive convict labor to make luminaries, they are in desperate need of contributions!

Convicts collect garbage during Relay for Life

I was rather disappointed to see that on the day of the event, the Clarke County Relay for Live using non-punitive convict labor to mingle among the public and collect garbage. At least the convicts were dressed in their bright neon orange suits; they stood out like Jock-o-lanterns on the Forth of July -- totally inappropriate viewing for a family audience! Perhaps you don't agree and think that having convicts do their time for whatever crime they committed at a cancer fund raiser like the Clarke County Relay for Life is a wonderful and bright idea. But quite frankly I disagree. Whoever made this call it was a bad idea, and even the best of coaches can sometimes make bad calls.

Even if you don't agree and think its perfectly appropriate and safe for convicts to be put to work making luminaries the day before the Clarke County Relay for Life, consider a worse case scenario. What could happen if these convicts decided to gang up, take a weapon from a guard and reek havoc! The consequences could be tragic!

But lets just say the issue is using non-punitive convict labor to make luminaries. Is that appropriate? I think not. As soon as convict labor is used to make luminaries it is no longer "the Lord's work," as Peggie said she was doing, but something else akin to being crucified.

We must remember that crucifixion was a form of capital punishment as is the use of convict labor. When convicts do work they are always under the watchful eyes of armed guards and constitute a form of non-punitive labor, for when anyone is watching over you with a gun, it is not volunteer service that you do.

Therefore I question the ethics and the good sense of using non-punitive convict labor at the Clarke County Relay for Life, especially in the making of luminaries or memorial tributes to those who have died in their fight against cancer. It tarnishes the memories of loved ones when non-punitive convict labor is used to make luminaries.

Plus there is a big problem with having convicts at a public, family oriented event, like the Clarke County Relay for Life where there are children. Convicts are not the type of people you want to be around children as it would only take one convict flipping out and going berserk to injure or kill a child. Even the remote possibility that such a terrible thing might ever happen at the Clarke County Relay for Life should not even be something people have to worry about as convicts, convicted criminals, dressed in bright orange Jack-o-lantern apparel should NOT be present at the Clarke County Relay for Life whether they are those collecting garbage or making luminaries.

It is a very bad idea to have groups of convicts working at a family oriented event like the Clarke County Chamber of Commerce. A gang of two to four convicts could easily take a child hostage, get a knife or gun from a guard or member of the public, and as a gang cause hurt, harm, injury or even loss of life at the Clarke County Relay for Life. It simply is not a very smart idea to be using non-punitive convict labor at the Clarke County Relay for Life. Even if law enforcement is present, if discharge of a firearm did become necessary at such a crowded pubic event, it could easily hurt, harm or kill someone.

I therefore question if it is wise to use convict labor under the supervision of armed guards at the Clarke County Relay for Life or other public fund raising events where children are present. I would urge those who don't see anything wrong with this practice to please reconsider this matter taking into consideration a worse case scenario. You are putting the general public at risk and in danger anytime you use groups of convicts to do non-punitive labor at a public event such as the Clarke County Relay for Life. Please cease and desist the use of convict labor at the Clarke County Relay for life and in the future let the many eager and willing volunteers from the community do all the work associated with this great and worth cause!

Subject: How to stop the deep water BP oil leak; a simple solution

BP recently released a rather dramatic video showing the gushing of oil and methane gas from open pipes a mile beneath the ocean’s surface. As a fan of the ABC hit LOST, the gushing plume resembled the “smoke monster” and I cynically laughed to myself saying, “So that’s where the smoke monster came from!” But seriously, this is a looming ecological disaster and the mile deep
leak needs to be stopped immediately.

What I’d like to know is how much BP will pay a private citizen if they can come up with a solution to stop the leak? Big oil executives were drilled before the US Congress, each blaming the other for the mess. This passing of blame was hideous! It is also mind boggling that BP seems to be playing around, not taking action to stop the leak, but only trying to devise methods to collect the oil.

I believe that if the object were to stop the leak and BP were to pay $100 million dollars or some other significant reward for a solution, you would
soon find that American ingenuity could come up with a solution to this problem. In the past large rewards have been offered for new inventions or technology. Surely if a significant reward were offered, someone could come up with a way to stop the leak.

I wonder how much BP would pay me to tell them how to stop the leak. I think I could devise a solution for much less than $100 million dollars. In fact, I think it could be done for ten-million dollars. Here is my solution and if it is used, I want my money! :-)

Have you ever had to link or splice two hoses when the water was still flowing through the hose? The simplest way to do it is to bend the hose and temporarily stop the flow while the hoses and connected with hose splicing connectors. Therefore I suggest that BP make a giant flexible hose to slip over the leaking pipes, bend the flexible hose, stop the flow, and then splice a new piece of pipe to the flexible giant pipe. It’s a very simple solution based upon very simple, yet working knowledge, of how to splice a hose.

Now I realize doing this at depth of 5,280 feet would not be easy. The pressure at such depths is some 146.6 atmospheres and all the work to crimp the giant flexible hose would have to be done by robots or using cables to bend the hose once it is in place. Or a “crimping valve” might be devised which would have the same effect as bending the hose to slowly reduce the flow while a new piece of pipe is secured to the end. The idea is that the process is made easy because by using such a device the oil and methane gas mixture gushing form the leak at extremely high pressure is permitted to flow through the new attachment, making it easy to slip on the extension, then use a crimping valve or mechanism to reduce the flow slowly which a new pipe is attached.

I would think if this method works it is worth at least $10-million dollars, as BP is losing at least $6-million every day that the oil continues to gush into the Gulf of Mexico. Plus what is so ingenious about this method is that it is so simple “even a cave man can do it!” Sorry, I just could not resist saying that after watching all those commercials on TV by a major insurance company more readily known for its computer animated gecko spokesperson.

The point is, if BP offers a reward for a solution, even if they pick another person's idea instead of mine, I believe American ingenuity could solve this problem. You see, often it takes just looking at a problem in a new and different way to find a solution, and the general public is not under the “pressure” or “fear of being fired” that BP engineers may be. Hence “wild and crazy” ideas may be proposed, ideas like going to the Moon or sending robots to Mars, which people use to think were “impossible.”

It may be that my idea for how to stop the BP oil leak seems “impossible,” but so far all the king’s horses and all the king’s men have not been able to put his Humpty Dumpty oil leak back together. Indeed, this catastrophe reminds me on that classic nursery rhyme:

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the king's horses and all the king's men
Couldn't put Humpty together again.

Indeed, all the “king’s horses and all the king’s men,” aka BP’s engineers, have tried to robotically activate the blowout preventer (BOP) which failed. They have built huge collection retainers to try to lower over the leaks, which have so far failed. So who is to say that my method, which utilized a bit of fanciful American ingenuity and what I call garden hose crimping technology would not work?

Hose crimping technology works for a garden hose under pressure and although that is not an oil spill at a mile deep, the principle is still the same. Therefore in theory my method should work. I offer it to BP as a solution. Let your engineers try my hose crimping method and if it works all I’m asking is $10-millon and a trip to Disney World!

State should sue BP for damages!

The April 20 BP oil spill which is gushing 210,000 gallons per day of oil into the Gulf of Mexico is likely to be an ecological disaster which may effect wetlands, fragile ecosystems, and cost shrimpers, oyster harvesters, crabbers and all the commercial fishermen billions of dollars! This represents a catastrophe which may turn into the worst oil spill in US history if it cannot be stopped. The fragile gulf state coasts of Louisiana, Mississippi, Florida and perhaps even Texas may all be impacted over time and the destruction to birds and other wildlife could be catastrophic!

Fortunately President Obama has taken swift action to halt all new offshore drilling until an investigation can be made to determine the cause and impact of this tragedy which killed 11 people when the oil rig caught fire and exploded resulting in a huge fire that was fought for two days before the oil rig sunk into 5,000 deep waters and left crude oil gushing into the pristine waters from at least three leaks. Efforts by BP have thus far been unable to halt the leaks and as of this writing crude oil continues to gush like an underwater geyser into the gulf.

This is a clear example of why it is vital to our national security to have a presidency which is empowered to take emergency action to protect the health and welfare of all Americans on a moments notice. Although this terrible oil spill appears to be an industrial accident, it shows what can happen and why we need a strong presidency. Hopefully the cause of this "accident" will be found to be exactly that, just an accident, and not the result of someone deliberately exploding an IED upon the oil rig.

We must be ever mindful of the fact that there are terrorist who spend their ever waking hour plotting and scheming at ways to attack America. If you have ever strolled the beaches of the Gulf coast there are points from which you can look out and see the huge oil rig upon the distant horizon. You can sometimes also see large ships which service the oil rigs. Each and everyone of these oil rigs and vessels represents a potential target and I would not be at all surprised to learn that there are terrorist plots to attack offshore oil rigs, even if the April 20 disaster is found to be an accident.

Fortunately we have a strong Coast Guard to secure our shores, yet in this age of terrorism it may not be enough. Every day (or night) there are those who seek to smuggle drugs into our country or illegal aliens. That is why in places like El Paso, Texas, they have tried to build a wall to stop illegal aliens and drug smugglers. But the coast line represents a open door where we are vulnerable to attack. Nothing demonstrates this better than the April 20 explosion which destroyed the BP oil rig and is now causing a 600 mile wide oil spill that is a potential ecological disaster!

This is very likely going to effect the people of the great states of Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, Florida and Texas. It is horrifying to imagine the impact this may have upon the Gulf coast. I've strolled along the white beach sands at Gulfport and Biloxi and done some deep sea fishing. As a naturalist and photographer I've enjoyed searching for sea shells, watching birds and photographing the scenic dunes from Texas to Florida. To imagine they will soon be blacked by waves coming ashore with slurry black ooze just send chills through me!

But can I file a claim against BP because their black ooze may effect my livelihood as a naturalist and photographer? What about all the other people who will be hurt and harmed by this oil spill? I urge that the people of Mississippi file a class action suit against BP, that we sue for the maximum amount we can get! This is going to hurt each and everyone of us who loves the Gulf, who loves the beaches, and who loves fishing and other recreation along the Gulf coast. It is going to hurt the general public, not just those who have a commercial interest in the Gulf, but everyone!

I therefore ask everyone to urge the State of Mississippi to sue BP and seek to collect for damages that this black ooze causes. I personally want $1-million dollars for every bird this black ooze may kill. But will Mississippi get any compensation from BP? Remember BP stands for British Petroleum; this is a foreign company. Why should they be permitted to kill one bird, to harm one feather on a single fowl? Why should BP be permitted to get away with killing and destroying a single fish, crustacean or fowl?

Is it crazy to hope that the State of Mississippi will sue BP in the name of the people and ask $1-million dollars for every bird killed by their black ooze? Maybe, but maybe not. Certainly if this oil spill cannot be stopped and results in a worse case scenario and develops into the worst oil spill in US history, then the people of Mississippi and every other state effected deserve to be compensated to the maximum amount that the law allows. Is $1-million dollars to much to ask for every bird destroyed? How much would you ask for if it were up to you? How much is every one of God's creatures, great and small, worth to you?

I personally do not believe you can put a value on human or animal life like this. But unless BP is made to pay a premium price for whatever damage they have caused and are responsible for, they will continue drill for oil without taking the necessary precautions to plan for a disaster, be it natural, accidental or caused by terrorist. The fact that such a disaster was not adequately planned for is indicated by the nature of the disaster and its consequences. Automatic deep sea cutoff valves should have been developed long ago and installed on all deep oil drilling rigs such that it would be almost impossible for an accidental gushing of 210,000 gallons of oil per day to occur should an oil rig explode and sink! Why in God's name was not this done BEFORE this happened?

The state should sue BP for damages and disburse the money to all the people! Imagine how much billions of dollars could help the people of our great state. Even if this was an accident and not caused by terrorists, still BP did not develop, install and implement technology to prevent such a disaster. Therefore the people have been hurt and harmed by BP and should demand just compensation -- even if the only way this impacts you is that you come across a dead bird covered with black ooze while walking along the shore with your child.

Unite against our real enemies!

It is disappointing that some newspaper publishers do not set a higher standard for themselves by doing a little researching before opening their mouths and making very insulting, derogatory and down right false statements about the military and our Commander in Chief, President Obama.

The United States is blessed to have a strong military force which provides a very good life for the many members of the Armed Forces and their families. I was lucky to have been an Army brat, to grow up getting to see some of this world and live in many different places. One thing I learned when my family was stationed overseas is that Americans are often viewed with disdain. Hence when I read an editorial or article where someone compares President Obama to the dictator, Adolf Hitler, I wonder where they got such a crazy idea?

It is also disturbing that anyone publishing a newspaper, even in a small town, does not know about the Ready Reserve Corps, which was established some 66 years ago, that our nation might be prepared for national disasters, including nuclear war. My father was very much involved in training the Ready Reserve Corps, so it is rather insulting to learn that someone would think this is a "private army" established through the health care bill to round up Christians, Catholics, Jews and 'Tea Party' members.

Such false statements demonstrate the degree of ignorance some people have, not knowing how the military functions or what is involved in keeping our great nation secure. You would think anyone would realize that it is vital to have a Ready Reserve Corps in these times where our national security is threatened by everything from pandemics and natural disasters to terrorist endeavoring to destroy America. This is not fantasy, but reality, and I would have thought after 9/11 everyone would clearly see that there are those who want to destroy us. The treat of terrorist obtaining a weapon of mass destruction, be it a nuclear device, chemical or biological weapon, is a real and present danger. Hence when making health care reform it is prudent, wise and very practical to insure that the President and the Surgeon General have the command authority of the Ready Reserve Corps to implement emergency measures in the event of a national emergency -- and what constitutes a greater national emergency than an attack upon our nation by terrorists!

Ultra right wing, fanatical shock jocks seems to be loosing their heads over almost every thing that President Obama does. This leads me to believe that some among their legions are racist, especially when I learn that many programs now being promoted by Democrats were original ideas of Republicans. Isn't it strange how hatred works. You may have a very good idea, then if someone you don't like who is black gets that same idea, you then denounce them and try to assassinate their character. And to try to make everyone believe you, you say you are not a racist, while beating up and bullying on the black man with words or clubs.

A fellow once told me that he was not a racist because as a child he had a black nanny. Then he later said how President Obama was like Adolf Hitler, who is without a doubt one of the most evil figures in history that you can compare someone to! Now what do you think, is someone a racist if they make such an unfounded and utterly untrue comparison? Then this same person said they were a Christian, as if that would lend truth to their statements or opinions about President Obama.

Time tells on a man, especially when he has hatred in his heart or darkness in his soul and opens his mouth without thinking about what he is saying. There are a lot of people saying bad things about President Obama. Some are even making wild cartoons to assassinate his good character. Others think this is all very funny. But you need to remember, President Obama is our president and was elected by the majority of the people. Give the guy some respect and stop spreading hateful lies just because you don't like his politics.

True, we have a two party system and there are those who would like to have a 'Tea Partry.' But I question their sense because the original Boston Tea Party was sparked by taxation without representation and in these United States of America we have a representative government and balance of power with Legislative, Executive and Judicial branches of government. Therefore those who dream up wild claims about how they are not represented and want to form their own militias, their own little armies and rebel, are nothing but anarchists!

I personally think that this is NOT the time to be dividing our country with party politics. We are fighting two wars and if Iran gets nuclear weapons we may be fighting a far wider war. This is a time when all Americans should be coming together united against our common enemies; we should not be listening to divisive voices and fighting among ourselves. How soon do people forget. On 9/11 terrorists attacked our nation and they have been planning attacks ever since.
Al-Qaida has gone underground, regrouped and fanned out; they are secretly making plans to attack America and are being aided by Iran. This has been clear for a long time, given the deployment of high tech IEDs that are designed and engineered using components from Iran. Given the efforts being made by Iran to develop nuclear technology, it will not be long until they obtain the means to make an atomic bomb. Having aided terrorist in the past, we would be fools to not think they would continue to do so in the future, with weapons of mass destruction.

If anyone wants to be making comparisons of Adolf Hitler to world leaders, they should compare Hitler to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Here is a fanatical Islamic fundamentalist who has denied the Nazi Holocaust of European Jewry as a "myth". I live in a small, rural town in the deep south. People around here are very friendly, have good hearts, loving natures, strong Christian values, and are generally among some of the finest and most wonderful people you will ever meet. However, it only takes one rotten apple to spoil the barrel, so when I pick up the local newspaper and read an editorial comparing the President of the United States, Barack Obama, to Adolf Hitler, I'm shocked! How can anyone be so ignorant or hateful to make such an vial, utterly false, and defamatory statement?

I am aware of the fact that there are hate groups in America and also that there are individuals who have darkness in their souls. I am also aware that some people just do not like the fact that now we have a black man as President and Commander and Chief. But I still find it hard to grasp the fact that some people are so full of hatred, ignorance and pure ill will that they would attempt to assassinate the President of the United States with false associations and dark hearted dreams, sinister fantasies, and tales of doom they conger up in the vial caverns of their soul.

This particular dark hearted dream attempted to assassinate President Obama's good character by suggesting that health care reform legislation passed by the US Congress and signed into law creates a private army that President Obama might use to round up Christians, Catholics, Jews, and 'Tea Party' members, that President Obama would use health care reform in the same way Adolf Hitler used his ill begotten powers to commit genocide. How anyone could come to such a fanciful conclusion or make such a wild association can only be explained if they are delusional, suffering from some mental derangement, or perhaps have been brainwashed by anti-Obama shock jocks! Or maybe they are a shock jock want-a-be themselves.

Whatever the nature of the mental derangement, darkened soul, or misguided delusions which would cause a person to come up with such a vial and hateful scheme to assassinate the character of the President of the United States using words, this cannot and should not be ignored as just "poppy cock" or "babbling mania" from some no-count publisher. True, the circulation of this particular newspaper is not that great, but in this modern age of the Internet, shots fired from any crazed lunatic can be heard around the world and catch the ear of many young, impressionable minds. Why there are even many young people who read this particular newspaper in my own community and have their schools, clubs and organizations regularly featured. So it is particularly prudent that this attempt to assassinate President Obama with words not be ignored or let to set a bad example for our children.

Apparently the publisher trying to shoot down President Obama has no understanding about how the US military works and what the real threats are which our nation faces and must plan for in the future. There are the threats of pandemic or natural disaster; plus, there is a real threat and danger that America will be attacked by terrorists using a weapon of mass destruction; This may be a dirty nuclear device, a biological weapon, a chemical weapon, or a combination of such weapons of mass destruction used in a coordinated attack by al Qaida, the same terrorist organization now deemed responsible for the 9/11 attack on America. The probability of such an attack is directly proportional to the ability of terrorists to obtain the materials to construct a weapon of mass destruction and get it into the country or in the vicinity of US forces deployed abroad, and inversely proportional to our ability to detect the construction, transportation, and smuggling of such a weapon of mass destruction. Hence attempts to assassinate the President's good character with words during a time of war practically amounts to treason!

Were a weapon of mass destruction, such as a dirty atomic bomb, exploded in a metropolitan area like New York City, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Miami, Seattle, San Francisco, or Washington, D.C., the result would be a catastrophe like none our nation has ever experienced. Millions of people could be killed or injured and the city attacked could be made un-inhabitable for hundreds of years! Is that what those attempting to assassinate President Obama's character with words want, for terrorist to blow up Washington, D.C., and kill the President?

It would require the military to deal with such a catastrophic attack upon America. Because such an attack is probable given terrorists threats made against our great nation, and intelligence reports that verify terrorist are trying to acquire weapons of mass destruction, it is very wise and prudent that our health care reform legislation give power to the President and Surgeon General to mobilize Ready Reserve Corps forces in a national emergency. Why would anyone be against our nation being prepared for an attack or national emergency and in the same breath attempt to assassinate President Obama's good character? Either this indicates an extreme degree of ignorance, or may be suggestive of hatred, mania or some other psychosis or perversion, similar to that suffered by others who have tried to assassinate the President, as John Hinckley, Jr. The motivation behind Hinckley's attack stemmed from an obsession with actress Jodie Foster due to erotomania. Does the motive behind those attempting to assassinate President Obama's character stem from a similar mania, what psychiatrists might call Obamamania (or rather anti-Obamamania since these folk hate Obama)?

It just boggles the mind to ponder how anyone in a position of responsibility who publishes a newspaper can be so ignorant, foolish and apparently dead set upon causing hurt, harm and assassination of character to the President of the United States, by publishing not only misguided opinions, but lunatic, fanciful, imagined scenarios that are so untrue and unlikely, one wonders from where they come? A soul must be dark, indeed, to have such pondering and publish it as probable, either that or be so ignorant as to how our Constitution, the office of the Presidency, and the Pentagon work together, as to come across as a Bevis and Butthead suffering from anti-Obamamania.

Hopefully we will win the war on terrorism before it comes to our doorsteps. But after 9/11 everyone from the President own down should realize that to secure our freedom we need to take the offensive and to plan for worst case scenarios. That means not only waging a war on terrorism abroad, but having a Ready Reserve Corps at home which can be mobilized at a moment's notice should terrorist attack our great nation with a weapon or mass destruction. It also means being more prepared for a national disaster, like hurricane Katrina, which clearly demonstrated that we need a national Ready Reserve Corps, as it took too long for national guard forces to respond after the terrible tragedy which occurred in New Orleans when the dikes broke and the city was flooded.

I urge everyone to pray for our great nation and our President, that as Commander in Chief, he is able to lead us to victory and win the war on terrorism. I also pray that skeptics, defeatist, and anti-Obamamaniacs who seek to assassinate the President's character with words or incite others to pick up arms to attack and destroy the President, will see the light and realize that their ridicule, lunacy and defamation of President Barak Obama hurts all Americans because it helps our enemies!

Why God does anyone want to hurt or harm our President or aid and abed our enemies? Are those who seek to assassinate President Obama with sinister words and demonic scenarios simply trying to get attention, to sell newspapers or advertising? Or are these assassins of character genuinely so ignorant and moronic as to be utterly insane, so irresponsibly manic and depressive that they are more like Bevis and Butthead cartoon characters than responsible citizens and publishers? Is there a mental derangement and disease, an anti-Obamamania, breaking out in America, a viral violence meme infecting the psyche of lost and misguided souls who have some predisposition for manic disorders? Whatever the case may be, I pray that our great nation and President Obama may be safeguarded against such babbling morons, and that His blessings and hand watch over and guide our nation and all citizens, young and old alike, that we be a loving, caring and wise people, and not turn into a bush of raving lunatics with a sick grudge against the President, black people, or someone who may be of a different ethnic or racial background. For in the final analysis we are all Americans, God fearing and God loving, and our enemies want to destroy us for that!

By now everyone should have received a 2010 Census form. These forms should be filled out accurately and returned by April 1, 2010. The results are used to determine representation in Congress and how more that $400-billion in federal funds are apportioned over the next decade.

Did you know that you can keep track of the results of the 2010 Census? As results come in they are tabulated by the Census Bureau. Demographic maps are prepared which are posted on-line. See Take 10 Map 2010 Census Participation Rates site where you can see the results for your area.

Although some residents may receive a long form the majority of 2010 Census forms only ask 10 questions and are easy to answer and complete. It may be unfortunate that the 2010 Census does not ask more questions as there are many regions of the country as well as cities which could benefit from a more detailed accounting. For example, the basic 10 question 2010 Census form is most specifically interested in establishing the race or national origins of respondents. The basic 2010 Census form totally overlooks unemployment, religious affiliation, income level, automobile ownership, whether people have insurance, pets or other issues which relate to one's social-economic group. Hence the distribution of federal funds cannot accurately take into account such aspects as the poverty level of a community.

Of course the purpose of the census is to count people, not pets. But by excluding pets people who have pets and who spend an enormous amount of money upon their pets are not treated fairly when it comes to appropriation of federal money. One of the consequences is then that these people and their communities have less resources for other needs such that many communities are over burden and cannot even afford such basic services as an animal control officer or animal shelter. The result is that we have over 7-million homeless animals destroyed in the United State every year -- an estimate not based upon the census, but upon statistics from other sources.

The exclusion of people with pets from the 2010 Census count therefore does not take into account the reality that a great number of people, regardless of their income level, chose to have pets and spend a protion of their income or resources upon maintaining and caring for their pets. When this factor is not even taken into account the result is prejudicial treatment of people with pets down the road.

With this in mind when I completed my own 2010 Census form I wrote in the fact that I own a dog. If everyone who owns a dog or cat would write this in upon their 2010 Census form perhaps someone would get the message that pet owners want to be counted and pet owners want their fair share of federal tax dollars to be spent upon programs to provide for animal control officers and animal shelters.

In many areas where there is extreme poverty, sky rocketing unemployment and staggering rate of home foreclosures, the number of homeless animals has soared. This is a problem that individuals do not have the financial resources to deal with effectively. In Mississippi alone there are some 73,000 dogs and cats destroyed in animals shelters annually, plus thousands upon thousands more which suffer on the streets. It would cost $73-million dollars per year to begin to deal with this problem effectively. This is why when individuals who care about homeless animals try to help, they quickly become over burdened by the astronomical size of the problem.

The problem of homeless animals is so large that it is one which requires action by cities, towns, counties, states and even the federal government to solve. But passing laws alone cannot solve problems; what is needed is money! Money is needed to fund animal shelters and animal control officers. Money is needed to fund rescue, spay, neuter and adopt programs. Money is needed to fund community education programs related to the humane treatment of animals as well as to train volunteers to work in animal rescue.

Yet because the 2010 Census does not even make a count of people with pets, states are left with the financial burden of animal control. Yet because the federal government ignores this issue, the states do not have the information they need either, such that the cycle of millions upon millions of homeless animals continues in America. This is a great waste of life and resources, for historically pets add greatly to the quality of human life.

When I started Good Shepherd Dog Animal Rescue, Inc., a nonprofit organization, I was hoping that I could make a difference and save the lives of homeless animals. Therefore when I learn that our nation does not even count people with pets, I'm very disappointed. How can cities, towns, counties and states get the money to deal with the issue of homeless animals if the US Census does not even make a count of people with pets? Not making a count is like ignoring the issue!

There are many critical issues which require our attention to improve the quality of life for all citizens. This includes everything from proper funding for improvements in infrastructure to proper funding for animal rescue and control. Yet before any problem can be fixed, the extent and nature of the problem needs to be understood. Unfortunately the 2010 Census does not shed any light upon such critical issues as unemployment, home foreclosures, or how many people have pets that proper public funding for animal rescue and control may be made.

When I checked the 2010 Census Participation rates site on March 29, Clarke County had only a 23% return rate compared to a 29% participation rate for Mississippi and a 34% rate for the entire nation. This is NOT a good result; in fact it is pathetic! Although I realize it is not April 1 yet, I would expect more people would take an interest in returning their 2010 Census forms. With over $400-billion federal dollars at stake I urge everyone to be a responsible citizen and get those Census forms in now! Even if the census does not count your dog or cat, at least it counts your kids! And if you want what is best for yourself and your children, it is very, very important to complete and return your 2010 Census form!

2010 Census emphasizes race, discounts religion, education, employment, professions and skips pets!

My 2010 Census form arrived in the mail today and is due April 1, 2010. I wish to encourage everyone to complete and return their forms on time as the data collected is used to determine the number of representatives each state has in the U.S. Congress as well as how much money each city, town and area may receive. So if you want our little town to get its piece of the pie, please get your 2010 Census form in on town.

I was a bit disappointed in the fact that the 2010 Census form did not ask very many questions. Basically the census only wanted to know of person number 1, the home owner/renter, how many people live in each home, apartment or mobile home, their name, telephone number, age, date of birth, sex, race, and if someone lives somewhere else part of the time. For each additional person their relationship to the home owner was asked. If more than 7 people live in one house it only wanted to know their names, sex, age, date of birth and if the person was related to person number 1.

The census did not ask about employment or the amount of money each person earned. I would have thought that in these tough economic times that would be an important question to ask. I guess because everyone who is employed is suppose to pay taxes, this information is available through the IRS.

Nor did the census ask about how many dogs or cats may live at a residence. Now I know the census by law counts people, but some people, like me, consider our pets family members. Nation-wide billions of dollars are spent by people on their pets so the number of pets living in people's homes is an important consideration. This needs to be counted that cities and town may also be properly funded when it comes to providing resourced for much needed animals shelters. But alas, the 2010 Census makes no count of people's dogs, cats or other pets.

It does want to qualify if you are of Hispanic origin, exactly what that means: if you are Mexican, Mexican Am., Chicano, Puerto Rican, Cuban or of another Hispanic, Latino or Spanish origin. If you are not white, black, African Am., Negro, American Indian, or Alaska Native it wants to qualify if you are Asian Indian, Chinese, Filipino, Japanese, Korean, Samoan, Vietnamese, Native Hawaiian, Guamanian or Chamorro, other Asian, as Hmong, Laolian, Thai, Pakistani, Cambodian, etc., or other Pacific Islander as Fijian, Tongan, etc.

The 2010 Census then is putting a lot of emphasis upon racial origins. In fact, that is about the only in depth analysis that the census is making. It does not ask a single question about religion. I would think it is important to know how many Christian, Jews, Protestants, Catholics, Muslims or people of other religious beliefs live in each area. Is this not asked because of separation of church and state? Yet is not it vital to know this fact, especially when we are engaged in a war in Iraq and Afghanistan?

Since the data collected by the 2010 Census is private and confidential, I think more questions should have been asked. I also think that in this day and age where jobs and education is so important that the census should have tallied each person's educational level, profession, and income. These are vital factors to know and map as demographics about education, employment and profession is vital to our economy. Knowing such factors would empower our nation to make a more swift economic recovery. Yet without this information we are left blind and have no census of the level of poverty or wealth from one town to another. Thus it will be more difficult to make intelligent choices and sensible judgments with respect to economic recovery issues.

In conclusion I was quite disappointed with the 2010 Census form. I wish those six pages had asked more questions about me and my pets so that the data might be used to help with economic recovery. I really don't care what race one is and think too much emphasis is being put on race. We are all AMERICANS, and perhaps would be better off if we stop looking at the color of one's skin or their national origins and focus more on issues like education, employment, level of income, and if people have health insurance. Yet the 2010 Census puts its focus on race, which is a decisive factor, rather than upon gathering information which could really be use to help all AMERICANS live better, more high quality lives!

Obama giant suppository cartoon is offensive, racist lie!

I like the Clarke County Tribune as it is a great source for local news. But I think the recent Obama suppository cartoon by William Warren of Liberty Features Syndicate on March 4, 2010, was not funny at all! Rather, it was ludicrous, crude, in very bad taste, if not down right obscene to insult the President of the United States with such a bad tasting editorial cartoon.

Just because something is presented in the form of an editorial cartoon does not mean it meets the higher standard to which a community newspaper should aspire. Quite frankly I thought this particular cartoon was racist, a flagrant lie, if not down right pornographic in its depiction of the President of the United States holding a giant suppository labeled as "Same old Obama-care $1-Trillon."

Why does the Clarke County Tribune keep publishing such filth and lies with regard to health care reform? Why is the Clarke County Tribune now stooping so low? What has the Clarke County Tribune to gain by publishing such racially offensive lies about the President of the United States? Is the Clarke County Tribune trying to light and burn a cross in people's minds, to resurrect the KKK on its editorial pages?

Indeed, the Clarke County Tribune has greatly insulted all black people with its publication of such racially motivated propaganda and filth! This is worse than using the "N" word! Quite frankly I think the good people of Quitman and Clarke County at large should rise up and call for the firing of the editor or anyone who would publish such insulting lies, trash, and racially motivated political propaganda masquerading as a cartoon.

You don't need to publish filth, obscenities, and racially motivated political porno editorial cartoons to sell newspapers -- do you? And even if you do, should not aspiring to a higher moral standard cause a good person to choose not to publish such trash in a family oriented newspaper? The publishing of a big grinning Obama with a giant suppository is NOT something Jesus would do!

The Clarke County Tribune has offended a good portion of the people who read and advertise in its newspaper. I would imagine the same holds true for other newspapers which published this same racist William Warren cartoon. Obviously this person has a problem with black people and with the President of the United States, who happens to be a black person. I think an apology is in order!

Do I think the Clarke County Tribune will have the decency, integrity and good character to offer a much deserved and warranted apology? No I don't. Usually people who commit such racially motivated offenses lack the courage to admit their mistakes, will try to convince everyone else they did nothing wrong, or will grit their teeth in anger and rage for being called out and caught at a lie, and go right on slinging dung, laughing at their lark, and calling it "politically right," failing to see the evil, the injustice, or the wrong of their ways.

How to save America from the great recession

How can we as a nation fix the economy when so many high tech companies are using the labor force of third world nations like China, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, the Czech Republic, and the Philippines? It simply is not possible to compete with the labor in these countries, many of which are over populated, pay slave labor wages or even employ children to manufacture such popular, big selling items as iPods and Apple computers!

To fix the economy and fix it for good, we need to institute laws to protect labor in America. However this is done it needs to also protect industry so that we do not become dependent upon nations like communist Red China, which now owns so much of our debt that our rights and liberty are in jeopardy.

A good example of how foreign nations effect the very lives and liberty of Americans may be seen in what has happened with home ownership. Literally millions of Americans have lost their homes to banks and lending institutions owned by foreign investors or companies.

What happens is that foreign investors and off shore companies not governed by the same laws as American citizens, create companies and do business in America, that they make enormous profits, yet do not have to obey the same laws as those they are doing business with, the American people. This is a type of fraud and it works because these foreign owned companies make up alias names like AmeriQuest, to easily gain trust and acceptance. Indeed, a name like AmeriQuest sounds good, very patriotic. Hence this enables the seduction of good, law abiding citizens. These foreign owned companies with English language names, then screw people out of their homes. First they under value the property, acquire a mortgages at high rates of interest from someone who can not likely repay the mortgage such the there is a defaulted upon the mortgage, enabling the acquisition of property for much less than real value of the property. Then these alias name companies turn around or flip the property and make a small fortune. As soon as the scam is revealed, they go out of business and sell off all the mortgages to another foreign company to escape liability. In fact, this is pretty much what AmeriQuest did, causing many Americans to lose their homes.

This is only one example of the type of fraud and theft of property being committed by foreign companies upon Americans. What is even more terrible about this whole process which feeds recession is that we bailed out many of these unscrupulous financial institution, with tons of tax payer dollars going to foreign owned companies like Deutsches Bank.

What is Deutsches Bank? This is the same bank that funded the building of the concentration camp at Auschwitz, a fact that was not made public until 1999! According to a factual account:

"After Adolf Hitler came to power, instituting the Third Reich, Deutsche Bank dismissed its three Jewish board members in 1933. In subsequent years Deutsche Bank took part in the aryanization of Jewish-owned businesses: according to its own historians, the bank was involved in 363 such confiscations by November 1938.[15] During the war, Deutsche Bank incorporated other banks that fell into German hands during the occupation of Eastern Europe. Deutsche provided banking facilities for the Gestapo and loaned the funds used to build the Auschwitz camp and the nearby IG Farben facilities. Here we are in 2010 doing business with foreign banks that systematically are financially raping and robbing American citizens, stealing their homes and property to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars, perhaps even billions of dollars! Then we are propping up these foreign banks with American tax payer dollars!

What in God's name is going on! This is utterly unconscious-able, yet, banks and financial institutions in foreign nations, which may have traditions based on fascism, communism, or even Islamic fundamentalism, are not accountable because they are headquartered in foreign nations.

To fix America and restore jobs and rebuild the economy we need to begin at the ground up. First we need to change trademark laws such that foreign owned companies can no longer buy up English language words and phrases to create alias names that people will trust in buying products or services from companies that are foreign owned and based abroad.

Second, we need to provide corporations with such great incentives that they will build and operate factories in the United States, instead of locating them in third world nations. This might involve new Price Jacking laws that will jack up the price on products made abroad such that it becomes more economical to base factories in the United States and employ American citizens, instead of abandoning the American people by basing industry abroad and then screwing Americans by producing products for a few cents upon the dollar and importing them back into America and selling them for a small fortune!

In other words, we must make both state and national laws which make it more profitable to build factories in the United States and use American labor, than to locate off shore. Once this is done it will boost the American job market and because of the laws of supply and demand, we will have more money to buy more product and may keep the cycle of production and consumption going ad infinitum.

To build and maintain a strong economy and remain a free people, we must stop letting other foreign nations seduce, rape and financially rob Americans. It is really that simple. We can recover from the great recession and build a great state and nation for our children and their children, but to do so we need to stop letting others countries like communist Red China and powerful financial formerly fascist institutions like Deutsche Bank bully and exploit us.

Money and greed for more and more money easily corrupts people. It is this greed and corruption associated with the greed that ultimately is working to destroy our great nation. Millions of Americans have lost their jobs and homes. Millions more Americans are without health insurance or quality health care. We are rapidly becoming a third world nations at the hands of others foreign enterprises and investors motivated by pure greed. The only way to stop the process and recover from the great recession is to end the financial rape, molestation, and robbery through new laws which will protect the American people!

The truth of what I say is clearly visible in the hurt and harm that has been done to millions upon millions of Americans by foreign interests. In earlier times this would have been cause for war! Yet the process of greed and corruption master minded by foreign interests and off shore parties has cause such decay and destruction, that we no longer are united as a people against such foreign influence. We often do not ever realize that our neighbors are hurting because of what was done to them by corrupt foreign banks and investors. Plus we often find ourselves participating in the process through buying goods made in a host of third world nations, believing that there is no alternative.

I personally will not believe that America is doomed to destruction at the hands of corrupt foreign influences any more than I will believe that we are doomed by threats from such terrorists as al-Qaida. Rather, I believe that we can fight back with new laws to save our great nation. Plus, we should institute laws that will stop such actions as home foreclosures when mortgages are owned by foreign banks and even go so far as to return homes lost by American families to foreign banks or financial institutions.

In other words, we should rectify the injustice that has been done and give back to Americans the property which was taken from them by corrupt foreign banks and megalithic foreign investment firms. This should be done by law retroactive to 9/11, the day our great nation was attacked by terrorist from abroad. For you see, it was not by accident that these terrorist attacked and destroyed the World Trade Center; it was by design, knowing that to do this would have a wave of consequences which has rippled around the world, like the after shock waves caused by a great earthquake or tsunami, ultimately hurting and harming many Americans and other free people globally.

Sometimes there are wars that you cannot fight and win with bullets and bombs. We now are engaged in such a war. The time has come when we must fight back and engage the enemy. But this is a war that can only be won with words, with that most powerful of weapons that is more mighty than the sword. It is thus that new laws must be ascribed to protect American workers from foreign influences, to restore the homes, property and what has been lost to foreign investors, to give back what belongs to America to Americans! Then, after a great reclamation, to insure through law that these United States of America never allows itself to be raped, robbed and financially exploited by corrupt foreign influences again!

Primus: Millions of Americans do not have health insurance and millions more will never receive coverage because greedy, al-Qaida like insurance companies would rather cut off their heads than provide universal health care. The result will be hurt, harm and suffering of millions upon millions of Americans plus the weakening of our great nation. Only if we unite and provide universal health care for all Americans will we be the strongest nation that we can be. Failure to unite and provide universal health care to ALL OF US, may result in the destruction of families and even the destruction of America at the hands of greedy al-Qaida like insurance companies.

When you poke a stick in a spinning wheel it can cause disastrous results, even killing the rider of the bicycle or motorcycle. This is exactly what Republicans have done to health care reform. The result may be catastrophic for millions of Americans, especially the increasing numbers of baby bloomers who are rapidly aging and will soon become senior citizens.

The insurance companies make billions of dollars in profits annually by gambling upon our health and longevity. It is the insurance companies which will profits the most by no health care reform; hence they have lobbied heavily against health care reform, doing everything in their power to stop health care reform. The consequences of this greedy behavior will be catastrophic for millions of Americans as they grow older and will only enrich the coffers of already rich insurance companies.

The one thing all insurance companies hate is having to pay a claim, because no matter how just the claims, it means a loss of profits for the insurance companies. The one claim that insurance companies hate paying the most is when someone dies. Yet we are all going to die one day. The insurance companies know this, so the one thing they try to do is avoid having to pay what anyone's life is worth when they die. And the next thing that the insurance companies try to avoid paying is what it cost to keep you healthy in body and mind as you grow older, as they do not want you to have sense enough to know when you are being screwed over, exploited and financially raped and robbed!

Hence the insurance companies all have one thing in common; they want you to pay for policies that have so many exclusive clauses in them that when you get older they will not have to pay for your health care nor any significant amount when you die. And guess what, when you are old and grey, locked away in a nursing home behind electronic doors with a security guard to prevent your escape, you won't even have the presence of mind to even know how terribly you have been exploited, or be able to do anything about it! You will simply fade away in a cloud of delirium, as those who could have made your last days better laugh and play while vacationing at a tropical resort spending all the money they have made off of the sick and the dying who had the blinds pulled over their eyes by the most clever con artist of all, insurance companies.

You see, if health care reform is passed, then enormous sums of money are going to be lost by the big insurance companies. They will not be able to compete with the government which will be offering everyone health care for a reasonable price. That is the singular reason Republicans backed by insurance companies do not want health care reform. And guess what, those Republicans are covered very well and have good health insurance; they simply do not care about all the pain, suffering, death and dying which everyone else will experience, putting it out of their minds, basking in the same sun at the same tropical resorts and parties as attended by their insurance company hosts.

So what will be the cost of NOT reforming health care? It will be exactly what my dear mother is now experiencing. Millions of aging Americans will find themselves locked away in nursing homes, made prisoners and exploited by the various states who have no other way to provide for their health care than to make them wards of the state, taking power and control of all their income, taking away their homes and causing catastrophic damage, destroying families, and gleefully walking to the bank with all that our dear parents and grandparents worked their whole lives to acquire. And because they take everything there will not even be any money for surviving family members to hire an attorney to fight this cruel and inhumane injustice.

The result of NOT reforming health care is going to destroy millions upon millions of lives of those who are now growing older by the day, whom will one day find themselves just as did my dear mother, a victim of a failed health cares system, and greedy, powerful people who take advantage of their incapacity to financially rape and rob them, destroying their families, and caring naught for the havoc the wrought!

Thus when you open a newspaper, turn on the television, or listen to the radio and hear someone saying how terrible Obama's health care reform is, remember this: health care reform is for ALL OF US, for all of the United States of America. Health care reform in not Obama's; health care refore is America's best hope for the future!

In contrast it is the insurance companies who are profiting by bashing health care reform. These same insurance companies buy advertising and support the anti-health care reform propaganda being spouted by Republicans who are in their pockets. What appears as editorial comment or programming is but deceptive advertising sponsored by the insurance companies!

Millions upon millions of un-insured Americans, many of whom have already suffered catastrophic losses due to an ill or elderly family member, we are the ones who are going to suffer from failure to effect health care reform. At present there are over 30 million Americans who do not have health insurance or who have pre-existing conditions and cannot get health insurance. Each day the number of Americans who do not have health insurance is increasing. As we grow older, become ill or incapacitated, lose our jobs, or suffer other unforeseen circumstances, we are going to be the ones who suffer the most if we listen to the brainwashing babble and anti-health insurance reform drivel of Republicans and media supported by the for profit screw you over insurance companies.

The effort by greedy and corrupt insurance companies to prevent health care reform is an outright scandalous exploitation and fraud upon America! Those newspapers, radio stations, television stations, and other media outlets publishing and broadcasting this lying and deceitful anti-health care reform propaganda are contributing to the hurt and harm which will be done to millions upon millions of Americans. Such support in the form editorial propaganda and shark feeding frenzy journalism is killing millions of Americans and causing millions of more to suffer. It's all the result of greed, greed and more greed and those contributing to such scandalous journalism should be ashamed of themselves!

Those who have a heart and who care about the the welfare of their fellow man and woman, who can see the mountain top and realize that on the next tomorrow it is going to be ALL OF US who will be old and elderly; that it is going to be ALL OF US who are without health care or cannot afford the enormous expense of a catastrophic illness; that it is going to be ALL OF US and our most loved family members who are locked away, made wards of the state and impoverished by the greed of those in power and control; that it is going to be ALL OF US who are exploited, financially raped and robbed by a failed health care system! We who can see the light, should act now to support health care reform!

What will be the cost of health care reform? The question that should be asked is what will be the cost of failure to enact health care reform? That cost will be the suffering of millions upon millions of Americans. That cost will be the loss of homes, property and the destruction of families. That cost will be so enormous that it cannot be conceived nor measured! That cost is one we can not afford as a nation, and it will be a cost that could destroy America if we fail to provide universal health care for all our citizens!

It should thus be obvious that America needs health care reform and it needs it now! Unless we provide all our citizens with health care, the cost will be so great in suffering, so great in hurt and harm, that it will destroy our nation. For we are a nation of people, of families, of citizens who cannot endure and prosper to our greatest potential among an increasing world population unless we are a healthy people, a healthy nation. The sick, the old, the diseased, the ill ... they will die and that will be ALL OF US one day. The only way to lessen the suffering is to provide each and every American with universal health care.

Yes, there will be a price in dollars and cents to provide all Americans with health care. But the price of not doing so will be catastrophic and could destroy our nation. We are not guaranteed survival as a species nor as a nation. There are others who wish our destruction. Yet our enemies also include those who contribute to our own demise, who prey upon and exploit the ill, the elderly, helpless children, and others who, through no fault of their own, may need a helping hand. Greedy insurance companies are as great a threat to the prosperity of America as are terrorists, perhaps even more of a threat! That is why we must support universal health care, for each and everyone of us, should we be fortunate to live long enough, is sooner or later going to need health care. And the clear and present danger that our great nations faces is that the greedy
al-Qaida like insurance companies would as soon have our heads cut off as have to cover all Americans!

I am a patriotic American, and I am not a fool. I can see when I'm being screwed over. Time and again the greedy al-Qaida like insurance companies are screwing over not only me and my family, but million upon millions of Americans! If you have health insurance odds are that you are being screwed over because insurance companies profit by gambling that they will never have to pay out. More than likely when you do need health care, an exemption will exclude you. More than likely you will die as result of an accident or sudden death, and not a cent will have to be paid toward your health care. Or you will let your policy laps when it is needed most. These and thousands of other circumstances will enable the al-Qaida like insurance companies from paying out what you have paid into your health care. Hence everyone who has private health care is playing Russian roulette! And those who do not have health care have already pulled the trigger!

The point is that all Americans should have universal health care from birth to death, regardless of their circumstances. We should not be made victims of al-Qaida like insurance companies nor be forced to play Russian roulette with our lives or the lives of our children, nor the lives of our elderly parents and grandparents. Yet that is exactly what is being done. We are being forced to gamble with our lives, with our health, by greedy, self-serving, al-Qaida like insurance companies, who are holding a gun to our heads, who are blowing away large numbers of Americans do not qualify for coverage or can't afford to play their game!

America, it is time to see the light and wake up! Support universal health care for all Americans! The future of our great nation depends upon our having a healthy, vigorous, population. We will stand only if we are united, and we will be united only if we provide universal health care for all our citizens!

Pact with the Devil: Mahmoud Ahmadinejad plans to hold the world hostage.

Iran's president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has made a pact with the devil, Osama bin Laden, and declared Holy War (Jihad) against the United States of America and its allies. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad met with Osama bin Laden at an undisclosed location and agreed to help supply al Qaeda with arms, ammunition, and a sophisticated new class of remotely controlled IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices) to use in terrorists attacks against both military and civilian targets. It is alleged that Iran will also supply al Qaeda nuclear waste materials to use in conjunction with these new IEDs to make dirty bombs. Reliable sources within Iran have risked their lives to make this information known to associates outside Iran in the hopes of preventing a wider conflict between Iran and the United States, given a war with Iran could result in the death of many innocent Iranians.

It has also been learned that in addition to supplying al Qaeda with nuclear waste materials to use with IEDs, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who is regarded as a dictator by the majority of Iranians, is moving forward with plans to construct a dozen or so underground facilities for the enrichment of uranium. Although this was announced to the public by Mahmoud Ahmadinejad himself, what was not revealed is that in these same hidden plants highly classified munitions will be produced, including IEDs or dirty bombs with nuclear waste materials. Also a highly classified facility is in operation to develop cyber warfare technologies, including methods to remotely attack high tech targets around the world. These cyber IEDs as some have come to call them, can disable computers which are connected to the Internet or infect computers remotely through Wyfi, SkyPe, or other wireless services.

Cyber IEDs have actually already been tested and been used by Iranian agents to disable computers in America. In fact our anonymous sources claim that they have attacked computers operated by both industry and the military, as well as private individuals, using the general public to test the results of their research and development. Sources report that one of the reasons Mahmoud Ahmadinejad declared to the world that he is not afraid of America and is moving forward to develop a number of hidden uranium enrichment facilities is to really hide the nature of what these facilities are really being used to develop. It is NOT the enrichment of uranium to make a nuclear bomb which is the purpose, but the development of cyber IEDs which may be tied in with dirty bombs to remotely attack sites any where in the world.

The dirty cyber IEDs being developed in secret locations in Iran include briefcase size devices that can be transported anywhere in the world, secreted in an automobile, placed upon an airplane, train, or hidden inside a building, then exploded remotely by agents either in the field or located virtually anywhere in the world, including command centers back in Iran. The plan is to mass product hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions of such devices, to be used in a cyber Jihad against the United States, its allies, and all nations who resist the future plans of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to hold the world hostage, just as he held American embassy personal hostage as a young man in the movement that brought him to power.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's goal is to dominate the entire world through his ability to explode dirty nuke cyber bombs, using al Qaeda and other terrorist groups as its agents. In secret Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has developed a master plan for world domination, which is why maintaining control in Iran is so vital. If Mahmoud Ahmadinejad allowed himself to be defeated in an election, his megalomaniac dreams of holding the world hostage and dominating humanity would go out the window. Hence in the recent election Mahmoud Ahmadinejad used his position as president to insure that when votes were counted he would win, even though it was obvious to the vast majority of Iranians that the election was fraudulent.

Our sources in Iran have told us that these revelations just touch the surface of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's master plan to hold the world hostage and achieve world domination. Agreements are being made with other terrorist states and organizations to supply them with cyber IED technology, that there will be no way to attribute future attacks solely to Iran. This includes using devices manufactured in Red China or other Moslem states in the production of cyber IEDs.

These allegations were confirmed when electronic documents were translated from Arabic to English complete with digital diagrams of a small dirty cyber IED small enough to fit inside a brief case, yet able to cause death and destruction of thousands of people, especially if exploded remotely in a stadium or other location where a large number of people were gathered, as for a sporting event, celebration, religious pilgrimage, or even a gathering of world leaders. According to our sources, such remotely detonated cyber IEDs could be armed with not only dirty nuclear waste materials, but biological agents, such that their explosion synchronously by remote control might infect millions of people all at the same time.

In fact, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's master plan is to do exactly that, to produce so many cyber IEDs that he can attack any where in the world with relative ease, and claim his innocence, attributing the attacks to various terrorist groups, just as has been done in the past with more conventional terrorists attacks. Our sources state that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has himself already been the master mind behind terrorist attacks attributed to al Qaeda, the Taliban. and other terrorist organizations funded and/or supplied indirectly by Iran. What has made terrorists attacks in Iraq and Afghanistan so successful is that Iran has supplied sophisticated IEDs. Now with plans to produce a new cyber IED that can be armed with nuclear waste materials or even biological agents, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad hopes to see his plans to hold the whole world hostage become a reality within his lifetime.

Our sources said that what Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has done is basically to make a pact with the Devil himself! Through his position as president of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad can institute those secret research and development programs to produce new high technology weapons such as cyber IEDs. By maintaining secrecy and using the smoke screen that hidden underground facilities are for the enrichment of uranium, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad can proceed with his development of such weapons as cyber IEDs and has even developed a new class of remotely controlled submarine that can operate at depths, slip into ports anywhere in the world, and be detonated by remote control. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad calls these what translates roughly as his "white shark death angels" as they simulate white sharks and can be used to attack not only port cities around the world, but military fleets, to break the back of America's military might and control of the high seas.

It is clear from what our sources have revealed that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is a megalomaniac as ruthless and bad as any the world has ever known should his ambitions of holding the world hostage be let to come to light. Therefore his assassination is justified. Also it would be justified for peace loving nations to make preemptive strikes against Iran to destroy all so called uranium enrichment facilities. If Iran is permitted to mass produce such weapons of mass destruction and terrorism as cyber IEDs and white shark death angels, the world will indeed find itself held hostage by a mad man!

Recently I spent the morning answering an email to an associate and sharing some advice and opinions with regard to getting Blogger up and running. I thought others my enjoy this rather entertaning muse which I've edited to remove any comments or links that may identify my friend:

My keyboard seems a bit stick today the "a" key keeps wanting to type aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa may need a new keyboard before long. I tried turning it upside down and beating it but the damn thing now seems worse.................. so I gave it a blow job ..... drug in the big air compressor, cranked it up, let it build up 40 pounds of pressure and then began blasting away. I also opened up the computer and blaster her .... boy the dust that came out of that thing. I should have been wearing a gas mask. Damn, did not realize this house was so dusty. Guess I'd better start doing that every 3-4 months. Now AOL's auto spell check programs is telling me that that string of a's is misspelled. What to do? :-) At least the keys are not sticking now so I might be able to tell you how to post on your blog.

3. When you point and click on the "B" logo it should take you to your account. Then you should be able to choose a template (you can just go with the default template to start).
4. Then select "New Post" or something like that.

You basically need to use a "Click on It To Everything Approach" to learn any new program. Really, just click on it and see what happens. The worse that could happen is one day someone evil bastard makes a program that when someone clicks on a particular sequence of buttons it sets off a chain reaction that destroys the world. I'm sure there are probably terrorists or rogue governments somewhere working on how to do that now. In fact, from what I here the Red Chinese are sponsoring hackers to breaking computers and steal high technology secrets ... the Iranians are probably doing the same thing as they'de like to get their nukes developed and flying. And India is really making outstanding progress with new supersonic cruse missile technology. We Yankees ain't the only ones who got smarts, as like it or not, humans all share much the same genetic code, and we can all be evil bastards or angels, which ever we choose on any given day.

I think all the blogs have forums where you can go to get help. But really it ain't rocket science. Any problems might be the result of whatever is fogging you head. Hey, my dear mother turned form a completely coherent, alert, cross-word puzzle working, family problem solving guru, to a blooming vegetable over night!

I didn't know WTF was happening; neither did anyone else. It took a neurologist to make a diagnosis and discover she had some form of dementia, not Alheimer's disease, but some dysfunctional impairment that none-the-less is like turning off a billion neural switched in the brain leaving one half-zombie, half their former self. It was quite catastrophic and most everyone responded worse than if she had AIDS, were a lesbian, turned black, or all of the above. This happened in 2003 when I lived in Montgomery, Alabama, perhaps still one of the most prejudice states in the union, where all the schools which were integrated in the 1960's are now "black" schools, and all the socially well to do white folk send their children to private church operated schools so they want be "infected" by whatever makes black people black. Plus what is especially awful is that many of the people who have this type of mentality are judges, lawyers, or in positions of power, that their ignorance, prejudice or intolerance effects such people as my dear mother when they become incapacitated.

So it was the worse place my mother could have become incapacitated. I responded by leaving the state of Alabama and starting the Elder Rights Association, on on-line publication advocating the rights of the elderly. Even if I can't to much to help my dear mother, at least I can share her story that it may help others.

I mention this so you might know I've been through the hell of seeing my own mother go from the best Mom in the world, to a foggy cloud. It results in a lot of tears and heart break. And seeing how many greedy and corrupt people responded to her, some of them even family members, to financially rape, rob and destroy my dear mother's life and family, literally was a wake up call that not much has changed in Alabama -- only now the prejudice and slave master mentality is directed toward the elderly who have become helpless. For you see, in Alabama the exploitation of the elderly is a billion dollar industry, and my mother fell into the trap, not even knowing it existed and was set ... much like when a wild and free animal is trapped.

I therefore have some understanding from baring witness to this tragic experience, that as we grow older our minds can fog. Sometimes it is a slow process. But at other times it can happen more suddenly. Any ill health no doubt may accelerate the process.

Therefore I do not mind helping you in whatever little way I might to publish you muse. But I don't like playing the role of critic. I'm a writer myself, so it is best I not say too much about works in progress. I can help you edit your work when done or convert it from one form to another and try to get it published, but you need to do the nuts and bolts of it yourself while your mind is still clear enough. All I suggest is that you try to explain matters, as if talking to people who do not know what you are talking about, so that the simple and obvious to you, are made clear to the reader. Also I enjoy reading adult stories, which deal with adult themes, that include sex, violence, deep mental struggles and issues. I'm not really into this Harry Potter, whimp vampire Twilight crap that is so popular and may be really profitable. However, Harry Potter would have been devoured by the first dragon he ever met were he in J.R. Tolkein's trilogy, and these nice, proper and sexless girly twats in Twilight would have all their blood sucked out and left for dust by any real Old World vampire.

It is a different age from what it was 40 or 50 years ago ... even from what it was 20 years ago. Now people don't buy magazines to read short stories or look at centerfolds, they on online and watch women playing with themselves in their bedrooms. It is surely a voyeurs paradise; you don't even have to put a coin in a slot to watch and jerk off. Or switch the channel and go to YouTube at www.youtube.com or It's Live at www.itslive.com and watch your favorite videos.

Now why do I mention this, which you probably already know. Because all these forms of media are competition, and unless you check out the competition you will not see what you are up against. It may not matter if all you want to do is publish on-line, which certainly you can do with a blog. But you need to realize when doing so your blog can be interactive. You can actually link to whatever other sites you want, even gyrating damsels, and contrast them to your own memories, or just reflect upon how much the world has changed.

Yes, you can write a blog and just do it the old fashion way with words. Or you can drop in links to particular words. I often drop in links to my designs, especially when that is the topic. Or I drop in links to my dogs pic. But my God you can drop in links to everything from brine shrimp to videos of nukes going off. You can make your blog dynamic, and that's why I wanted to mention this.

Now what I could do is take one of your recent pieces, edit it for you and add links to show you how this can be done. Then you can post it on your blog. There are a million different ways this can be done. The point is that there is a LINK function so that when you write you can actually drop in links yourself. This is one of the things you may want to do.

Now I could also make all your stories interactive in this way, simply making key words have a Google link so people could just click on them and see what comes up. In fact, that is the easiest way to make a blog interactive. If for no other reason this can be done to make what your are writing about more educational and informative. When then published using traditional print media the links can be translated to their URL. Or if published on a CD the links would remain active.

What you may benefit from realizing is that books are not just words in print any more. Even ancient writings and works like the Holy Bible have been digitized and made interactive in this manner. I realize for the moment you just want to concentrate on writing stories and publishing before you die, but I wanted to let you know that I am aware of the fact that we are living in a new age, where everything is interactive, and it is only going to get more and more that way in the future ... long after you and I are gone, what every we put out there is going to be just a drop in the bucket of what the mass of humanity is going to literally have at its finger tips.

The reason for noting this is because authors and writers generally want others to read what they write. That's part of the process. Yes, you may write or create just for yourself, I do that constantly. But there are other consequences. One is that others may read your work and perhaps be influenced by it. Two, it gives the author a form of immortality. A thousand years from not someone may see something that you scribbled, just as we see what was inscribed and chiseled upon the ancient Egyptian tombs 3,000 to 4,000 odd years ago. I might not be able to understand what it means, but you got to admit, the Great Sphinx and the Pyramids of Gaza make an impression!

So, my friend, if you do manage to figure out how to start posting on your blog, note that you can click on the LINK function and add some interactivity to your blog. So if you are talking about a subject like drilling nuke holes which is not common knowledge to everyone, you can add a link. Or if you want to mention how things have changed since you were a young lad and Playboy was recreational material that teens snuck away from their parents and hid away in the bathroom or bedroom with, whereas today all you have to do is click on sites like www.itslive.com and presto you are in a girls bedroom, such little magic might add a new dimension to your work. Plus the process can make your work not only more educational and informative, but more people might actually read it ... plus such browsing to discover new links can be inspirational or enlightening in and of itself to the author.

Ah, if nothing else perhaps checking out It's Live at www.itslive.com will clear your head! :-) Some of the girls there are really "Girls gone wild!" Whereas many try to tempt visitors into a private chat, which starts the meter running, many are there just because they get off on being exhibitionists and showing their God given gifts and talents to the world. I've heard tell of some girls using It's Live to find sugar daddies, but that might just be a yarn. But if you really wanted a tale to tale, you might make your own investigation and then report the results in your blog. Boy, that might make for some interesting reading. :-) Gee, I might even considering doing that myself.

We Need Jobs Now In Clarke Co. Mississippi

We need jobs in Clarke County and we need the now. I suggest that instead of building a dirty, out-dated, low tech, coal burning power plant in Kemper County, we build a clean burning, high tech, state-of-the-art natural gas burning power plant right here in Clarke County.

There are many reasons for NOT building what will amount to an environmental disaster coal burning power plant in Kemper County. The biggest reason is because this will result in pollution of our air and water and destruction or our environment. That should be reason enough to throw out the bad idea of building a coal burning power plant. But the best reason is because we have plenty of natural clean burning gas, and therefore it makes much more sense to build a new natural gas burning power plant right here in Clarke County.

Now I'm not a genius when it comes to power plants, and I haven't made a study of this issue. But I do know that when you mine and burn coal you get dirty air, polluted water and a raped landscape. In contrast, when you burn natural gas you do not rape the landscape and your air and water quality remains at the high cleanliness standard that it was prior to lighting a match. Hence it seems like a no brainer, that a clean, natural gas power plant located right here in Clarke County would be a much better idea that a coal plant up in Kemper County.

But the best reason for building a new clean gas burning power plant in Clarke Co. would be jobs. We need jobs in Clarke Co., so I propose that the power that be look into this matter and formulate plans for a new clean, natural gas power plant in Clarke Co., ousting plans for a pollution generator in Kemper Co.

A great deal of noise has been made about global warming and pollution of our air, lakes, streams, rivers and destruction of the environment. We have only one planet Earth, and when it is ruined, there is no replacement. God has made us guardians of our environment, and therefore we should make wise decisions. Building a clean, natural gas power plants in Clarke Co. would be a lot better idea than building a dirty coal burning power plant in Kemper Co.

Also I believe a clean natural gas power plant in Clarke Co. would reduce power bills over time, instead of increase them as would a coal burning power plant. If they build a dirty coal burning power plant up in Kemper Co., everyone in the area is going to have to foot the bill and pay the price, not only in terms of a polluted environment, but in much higher utility bills. And who is going to have to pay for cleaning up the damage to the environment caused by a dirty coal burning power plant -- our children!

We need jobs in Clarke Co. and we need them now. I propose that one way to stimulate the local economy is to build a natural gas burning power plant in Clarke Co. Then let's also look into other clean energy sources, like solar energy and wind energy, and see if we can participate in large projects that may be subsidized by the federal government as we move toward being independent from dependency upon foreign oil. Industrial development tied in with clean energy represents an enormous opportunity for bringing jobs to Clarke Co. as does industry related to high technology, the Internet and the global marketplace which that represents.

Clarke Co. is an ideal location for a new natural gas power plant. There are already natural gas pipelines running through Clarke Co. plus there is an abunance of water resources, both above ground and below ground in the aquifer. So why don't we push to get a natural gas power plant built right here in Clarke Co.

A Jan. 2000 report in The Mississippi Business Journal entitled "Power plant construction in Mississippi has major economic impact" stated that Mississippi has nine natural gas power plants either under construction or in the pipeline. According to the author, Becky Gillette, "the largest power plants under construction are two 500-megawatt gas turbine generating plants at Mississippi Power Company's Plant Daniel in Escatawpa, Jackson County. Two Enron peaking power plants began construction in 1999. They are Caledonia Power, LLC in Caledonia and New Albany Power, LLC in New Albany. LS Power in Batesville began construction of a power plant in 1998. Currently Congentrix has applied for permits to build power plants in Southaven and Caledonia, and Duke Power has applied to build plants in Jackson, McAdams and Southaven." So why don't we the people initiate action to get a new natual gas power plant built right here in Clarke Co.

Let's face it Clarke Co. and Mississippi in general is way down on the ladder when it comes to employment. In fact, at 12% unemployment Clarke Co. is at the bottom of the barrel. But I believe if we focused upon bringing clean energy and high technology industry to Clarke Co. we could pull ourselves up by our boot straps and come out of this recession looking pretty darn good. But an idea is nothing without action. Those who are our elected representatives need to take action, develop economic plans and strategies, and initiate programs to get the ball rolling. This might begin with the mayor of Quitman and Board of Aldermen adopting an economic development plan, one that includes bringing high tech jobs to Quitman. Also the Clarke County Commission needs to get in on the act and come up with a plan for a clean burning power plant and other high technology industries to be located in Clarke Co. In other words, we the people need to say we want a clean burning natural gas power plant here. Let's decide that ourselves and get it built; let's not let this be a decision the power companies make.

The Clarke Co. Commission recently approved a railroad authority; but railroads, though a good idea, are low tech. High tech is the Internet and we need to tie into Internet commerce simply because most of the money and business in the world is NOT in Clarke County. But the Internet is a way to empower people in Clarke Co. to get business from afar and generate income and profits from abroad. Hence the railroad we should be building in Clarke Co. and Quitman should include the high tech fiber optic, WiFi, Skype and other telecommunication networks piped into every home and business, certainly made free to schools, libraries and other public institutions.

Yet here we sit at the bottom of the barrel economically in Clarke Co. Mississippi with a 12% unemployment rate. This could change over night by building a new clean burning gas power plant in Clarke Co. It could change over night by building an industrial plant to manufacture solar energy panels. Or it could change over night by building an industrial park where other high tech businesses could setup factories taking advantage of the large unemployed labor force in our area. You see, high unemployment really means we have people who need jobs, so this is an incentive for high tech industry coming to Clarke Co. But to get them to come, we need to provide some incentives, such as a natural gas power plant which would lower everyone's utility bills over time, especially for industry, and an new industrial park area where factories might locate to take advantage of low cost power generated by such a natural gas power plant.

Are these pipe dreams? Yes they are. But change, progress, jobs, and a better future for our children begins with dreams. You have to start somewhere and dreams is a good place to start. For unless you can imagine the future, a better and a brighter future, you cannot begin to build that future. I think a clean burning natural gas power plant in Clarke Co. is a good dream, one worth pursuing -- am I the only one that has such a dream?

State of the Union or United We Stand. Divided We Fall

Regardless of the state of the union, the state of Mississippi is not in very good shape. The unemployment rate is 10.3% in Mississippi as of 27 Jan., 2010. In Clarke County the unemployment rate is a whopping 12%! That means that for everyone you see, more than one in ten will be unemployed, probably on welfare, receiving food stamps, and living below the poverty level, without health insurance, and a burden to everyone else who has a job, income or pays taxes.

It is NOT good to have so many, many people without a job. These high unemployment rates are not the result of people who just don’t want to work; rather, they are the result of a global economy which is in turmoil. What is causing that turmoil? Ultimately it is the population explosion. With over 8-billion human beings now in the world, there simply is less to go around and more competition for what little there is.

The burden of unemployment and jobs is one we all have a stake in; our very security and survival depends upon people being able to get a job, not just a minimum wage job, but a good job, one which provides benefits and health care. Yet because 12% of the people in Clarke County do not have a good job, that places an extreme burden upon each and every one of us.

What many people do not realize is that countries like communist Red China, with a huge population, which are rapidly developing, represent a serious threat to America. This is even more true because Red China is not a Christian nation and has a very bad record when it comes to human rights. They virtually exterminated the people of Tibet while the world just watched. And now Red China is buying up America’s debt such that the communist can have power and control over Americans.

This represents a clear and present danger to our freedom. Just go into any store and look at where merchandise is made. Likely as not even the school uniforms your kids are wearing are made in a third world nation. We are being bought out by Red China and many Muslim nations. That may have serious implications for our security down the road.

I suggest that one way to rectify the situation is to forbid the ownership of US English name trademarks by foreign investors. Some years ago the trademark laws were changed so that anyone could buy the rights to an English name or phrase even if they were not US citizens. This has resulted in many English names and phrases being owned by foreigners such that products not made in the US may carry English word brand names. This gives the fraudulent impression that products are made in the US, when actually they may be made in Red China, Indonesia, India or in other countries.

By a simple stroke of the pen, we could change the trademark laws and stop the wholesale prostitution of the English language which is being permitted by our government. This would do much to boost enterprise in America, as it would mean that no longer could foreigners exploit our citizens by producing products abroad and selling them in America under the guise of an English language trademark.

I believe that we should also have greater incentives to stimulate small businesses. Instead of bailing out big corporations and banks, we should be investing that money in helping people start their own business. Also we should put a freeze on home foreclosures and declare all home foreclosures since 9/11 null and void. The reason for that is because the disruption of the American economy can be traced right back to 9/11 when the World Trade Center Twin Towers were destroyed.

You see, the destruction of the World Trade Center had consequences, producing a ripple effect which is still reverberating through the world’s economy. The terrorist who attacked the World Trade Center did so to disrupt the world economy. We have been seeing the results ever since and people have been feeling the effect with lost jobs, lost homes, and destroyed lives.

Everything that happens is connected and when you combine such things as permitting foreigners to buy up English language trademarks, to stamp products made in Red China or Indonesia with American brand names, then destroy the World Trade Center and declare a Holy War upon America, causing disruption in our economy via the enormous sums spent waging a war on terrorism, plunging our nation and the world economy into chaos, you then end up with what we see today -- double digit unemployment and millions of people in America plunged into poverty.

We are rapidly becoming a third world nation being out paced in many respects by our enemies, Red China, Iran, and other non-Christina nations. This is why it is really foolish for Democrats and Republicans to be fighting among themselves. Our nation is in peril and our enemies want to destroy us, economically first, then to blow us away!

United we stand. Divided we fall. That remains true and is why Democrats and Republicans must come together and provide a jobs bill and all the other legislation that America needs to be a strong nation. We are NOT a strong nation with double digit unemployment and over 14 million Americans without health care. We are NOT a strong nation with a trillion dollar deficit and more and more of our debt being purchased by our enemies. The security of America is being slowly eroded away and this is being enabled by foolish party politics which fails to see that our real enemy is not our brothers and sisters partying as jackasses or pachyderms, but is Red Armies and Islamic fundamentalist waging an economic and holy war against America.

I urge all patriotic Americans to write their representatives and tell them to stop fighting among themselves and do whatever needs to be done to get Americans back to work, to prevent jobs form going overseas, to protect our economic interest, and to provide all citizens with recovery of homes they have lost to foreign banks, and with protection so they cannot lose their homes in the future to foreign banks or megalithic financial institutions which have financially raped, robed and exploited our citizens!

Unless we stand together, united against our enemies, we risk being defeated by them. We are only 300-million against billions and billions. The numbers are NOT on our side. So either we must unite and stand together, or risk being destroyed over time by our enemies.

There is, of course, another option. We can export democracy and convert our enemies to our allies. That would mean giving not only aid to other nations, but demanding those nations which we aid adopt a Bill of Rights similar to our own, which permits freedom of religion, press, speech and assembly. Ah, but how can we do that when Democrats and Republicans are at each other’s throats, fighting for crumbs, when what is really at stake is our very existence!

Plus, I propose that everyone urge a REVOLT in Red China, that we raise crosses from Beijing to Hong Kong and around the world. Only when people of all lands come to love thy neighbors will we have world peace and freedom!

Republican stand against health care reform, abandons American people

On Christmas eve the US Senate voted along party lines 60-39 to support health care reform. This represents a historic occasion, one which all patriotic Americans may take pride in and rejoice. However, the failure of Republicans to support health care reform represents a slap in the face of millions of needy people by selfish, inconsiderate politicians who do not really care about the health and welfare of those who may be less fortunate than themselves. The electorate should remember how these selfish politicians voted against health care reform and throw them out of office when they come up for re-elections.

It is time that the American people come together on the issue of health care reform. Both the US Senate and the US House of Representatives have now passed health care reform legislation. Yet the relatively rich, well-to-do republicans representing insurance company lobbyist and big business interest, failed miserably to listen to the people and support health care reform. The majority of Americans have spoken and said that they want the same access to health care as the more fortunate, employed, and wealth portion of our population enjoys. Republicans should therefore stop acting like stubborn pachyderms with a tuck up their butt and support reformation of the health care industry.

Unfortunately Mississippi is being hurt by the same right wing ultra conservative republican leadership which rejected health care reform. Here we are fighting two wars, thousands of soldiers making the ultimate sacrifice for their country, many more returning from the front lines having lost arms, legs or suffered life-long brain injury as a result of IED explosions or other combat injuries, and republicans who support their walking into harms way will not even support health care reform. This is insane!

Even though veterans may have health care, when a soldier comes home his injuries effect not only him, but his or her whole family. When health care is not regulated and provided economically for any group, it runs up the cost of health care for everyone. One of the results is that the states then have the burden of caring for those who do not have health care, especially the elderly, which leads to a corrupt process that can result in the loss of homes, the break up of families, and the virtual imprisonment of the elderly in institutions and privately owned care facilities which rape and rob them of everything they have.

I have experienced first hand seeing how a failed health care system works. Even though my dear mother, La Faye S. Lynch, had a fantastic package of benefits provided by the VA, Medicare and Medicaid, when she grew old, became ill and, upon the recommendation of her doctor was placed in a nursing home, then began a process of exploitation, rape and robbery by those in power to take everything from our family. The result was loss of our home, everything my parents had work and fought to secure for their family, and the destruction of my family. This was enabled as the only way to fund the astronomical cost of health care was to take power and control of all income and property, to rape and rob my dear mother and destroy her family. Such an atrocity, enabled by a corrupt state government and broken health care system, would never have happened given a national system which provided health care equally to all people.

Therefore when I see republicans lining up to vote, one and all, against health care reform, I cannot but wonder what stock they own in insurance companies, how much money they are getting paid by the lobbyist representing big business, and what lies they may be telling the American people to secure their own little nest egg for themselves. These same republicans are often the ones who own the nursing homes or otherwise have their fingers in the cookie jar such that when people become ill or incapacitated they will reap the reward. Hence it is not only a selfish act when such republicans fail to support health care reform, it is greedy, cruel and an utter unjust exploitation of the poor, helpless or incapacitated!

When a newspaper like The Clarke County Tribune then turns around and tries to brain wash its readers to stepping in line and following Newt tooting republicans, it is especially disturbing. One must ask why this is being done? Who benefits? How much money is being gained? What power and control mechanism is being put in place? Who is benefiting by such attempts to control how people think and vote? These are critical questions, especially given the fact that the people have now spoken and said they want health care reform, yet such Newt tooting newspapers continue to be led around, like a parade of reform each chained to the others, marching in line, leaving in their trail piles of pachyderm poop that we all step in every time we open up the newspaper.

It is quite disgusting, really, especially when you then realize that what is being gained is money! Republicans and those media outlets which are tooting for Newt gain financially by denouncing health care reform. They are part of the broken health care system and hence part of the ruin of America. Thank God that we now have a president like Barack Obama, who is able to lead our great nation forward and muster majority support for health care reform!

I hope and pray that health care reform will become a reality soon. I also pray that then republicans will see the light and get behind health care reform, to improve upon that legislation already drafted to bring more economical and better health care to all Americans. I also pray that the day will come when it will be illegal in our great nation to rape and rob the elderly and their families when a family member grows old, becomes incapacitated, or otherwise suffers accident or injury resulting in catastrophic health care costs. We none are free when there is one who has done nothing but loved, yet is locked away behind electric doors and iron gates, made a nursing home prisoner that others might exploit, rape and rob them for their own private benefit.

A soldier's story or Newt Poop

I'm lucky. As an Army brat I grew up living in a number of different places around the country and abroad. Hence I had friends of many different races and national origins and did not turn out to be a racist or prejudice as were many of the kids in schools which I attended in the deep south. Also my parents were Christians; my mother was raised as a Methodist, her father being a Methodist Minister, and my father was a Presbyterian. Hence I learned from an early age that God was Love but you better do what your daddy says or ELSE, which meant a belt to the butt!

Yet despite this strict upbringing I was recently called a "racist" by Mr. Wade C. Bolen, editor of The Clarke County Tribune. Such a statement could be no further from the truth. It was a bald faced lie, pure and simple, based not on fact, but conjecture, a statement made perhaps in revenge to my defense of President Obama and his support as our Commander in Chief.

I recently met Mr. Bolen. I had gone to the newspaper office to renew my subscription when he happened to walk through the door. I promptly introduced myself and in the course of our brief conversation told him flat out that I was not a "racist!" But I'm not sure if he got the message as Mr. Bolen seems a pretty stubborn gentleman to me. Why it might take some more knocking to pound that fact into Mr. Bolen's thick skull. I AM NOT A RACIST! Do you get it now, Mr. Bolen?

What I am is a very patriotic American. That's why when I open The Clarke County Tribune and see it filled with radical, anti-American, right-wing propaganda every week, I can't help but get the impression that someone has fallen into a vat of Newt poop!

As an Army brat I learned what Newt poop smelled and looked like at a very early age. My Dad was posted in Orleans, France, and was charged with such critical missions as supplying allied forces with supplies, munitions, and designing evacuation plans for allied forces in the event of a nuclear war! One day while out for a walk he showed me a pile of "road apples," a large mound of dung deposited by large draft horses which were used to pull wagon loads of wheat. These were huge horses, like the Clydesdale Budweiser horses, and when they pooped, it left a mountain heap of dung which reeked and made quite a stench; not something you would want to step in. Well, Newt poop looks much the same as 'em road apples, and leaves one's misplaced foot with much the same stink!

Opening up The Clarke County Tribune every week and seeing Newt poop makes me wonder what's going on? Every week there is a new anti-Obama cartoon and another guest columnist tooting or pooping for Newt. So knowing Newt poop when I see it, and being a patriotic American, I have to stand up and defend those who are bashing my president. Hence I call the shots like I see them and feel it is quite accurate, correct and on target to say that such propaganda is anti-American, racist, and aids and abets our real enemies, which is al-Qaida and the Taliban.

Last time I heard we were at war on two fronts, one in Iraq and another in Afghanistan. I happen to know what it is like to have to be the one going to ring the bell on homes and deliver the bad news that someone's husband or son will not be coming home from the war. You see, I grew up hearing all my Dad's war stories. And the worse ones of all were how terrible it was having to bring home that news to the wives, children and parents of a soldier killed in action. That was my father's duty during the Vietnam War, and in the end it broke his heart and killed him.

Apparently Mr. Bolen doesn't get it. We are all Americans here and like it or not President Obama is our President and Commander in Chief. We need to rally around the President during these tough times, give him all the support we can, and focus our frustration and anger instead upon our common enemies, the Taliban, al-Qaida, and others around the world who seek to destroy our great nation.

You may enjoy pooping upon our President, Mr. Bolen, and you may be doing just what the owner of The Clarke County Tribune wants, but it ain't pretty and it ain't nice to be Newt pooping on the President during a time of war! You just don't seem to get it. I guess you never had to go knocking on doors and tell someone their son or daughter was never coming home. Supporting our troops, Mr. Bolen, means also supporting the Commander in Chief, and not trying to make him look a fool to everyone who reads your rag.

Quite frankly the reason I decided to renew my subscription to The Clarke County Tribune was so I could monitor the Newt poop you are publishing and dispose of it with my Newt poop scooper. One thing I learned growing up as the son of a much decorated soldier was how to scoop poop! In the Army they have another term for it, *@#$! runs down the leash, such that the lower downs in the chain of command end up kicking the dog. You are the dog, Mr. Bolen, and although I respect your rights to express your opinion, I don't like the Newt poop you are using to trash our President with every week. Thus I'm telling everyone that 'em road apples you've been plopping about President Obama are just so much Newt poop, and since *@#$! runs down the leash, here's kicking your butt!

Shame on The Clarke County Tribune for not supporting our President and Commander in Chief during this time of war. Yes, it will take more than 30,000 additional troops to win the war on terrorism, and in my opinion the fighting of this war and every war should be left to the generals. Politicians simply do not know how to win a war. If its about winning then there should be no holds barred and we should get serious with al-Qaida, the Taliban and any and all who aid and abed our enemies. That's why I say The Clarke County Tribune is acting like a traitor. You can't go around pooping Newt poop on the President when someone is ringing door bells telling a wife their husband won't be coming home or bringing that tragic news to parents that their son or daughter was killed in action.

How then do you express your disagreement with the President? You do it directly. You encourage people to address letters to the President. If you want you may publish such letters as open letters to President Obama. Also, you make a point to express both sides of an issue and give equal time or space to columnists who support the President. Otherwise you come out looking lopsided, anti-American, racist, and like so much Newt poop!

Also notice that this ain't personal, Mr. Bolen. Like I told you to your face, I am NOT a racist. But The Clarke County Tribune is looking racist and coming across as being racist because of what it is doing and what it is publishing. Also by not supporting our Commander in Chief, even if you disagree with some things he does, the newspaper comes across looking anti-American, and aids and abets our enemies in spirit, which helps the enemy in its efforts to divide and conquer these great United States of America.

I'd like to see The Clarke County Tribune say that it supports our President as Commander in Chief, even if it doesn't agree with everything President Obama does. God only knows that I do not agree with everything President Obama does. Like I said, I think we should leave fighting wars over to the generals, and Obama was never a soldier and certainly isn't a general. Hence we all need to support our President and pray that with our support we may all come out as victors in the war on terrorism.

Terrorist sympathizers manipulate war photos

As a master graphic artist, designer and photographer who has many years experience taking photographs of the natural environment, people and the world around me, my attention was recently drawn to a photograph taken by Kevin Frayer showing the damage in Lebanon caused by an Israel air strike. What made a light go off inside my head was that this picture alleged to show a banner strung across rubble saying "Made in USA" and cast a dark shadow upon my country.

I felt insulted by this photograph and then gave it a closer look noticing that the type fonts upon the banner were clearly generated by a computer and even covered the folds in the banner. This photo had clearly been doctored and manipulated and released for propaganda purposes by Hezbollah sympathizers. To prove this to myself I made an analysis of the photograph which confirms that it was indeed a doctored photograph that had been manipulated using a computer. So much for truth in advertising!

Figure 1 shows the original photograph with the caption "Lebanese youth stand on a banner in protest against the United States in the rubble of a building destroyed in Israeli bombardment in the southern suburbs of Beirut, Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2006. On the second day of a United Nations ceasefire between Israel and the Hezbollah, Lebanon's Defense Minister said that 15,000 Lebanese soldiers will be deployed in south Lebanon by the end of the week." Figure 2 shows an enhancement of this banner. Note that the text is not hand painted or done using spray paint as is the case with most such banners or graffiti one sees as a result of people expressing themselves after a natural disaster or man made destruction. Rather, the type fonts upon the banner are commercial fonts of a style one would easily have access to using a graphics art and photo manipulation program upon a computer, something I know given I have produced thousands of graphic images and photographs and regularly use such programs to create art and designs.

Figure 3 shows an enlargement of the "USA." Note that the type fonts fall over the fold in the banner and do not follow the curves of the banner. This is exactly how the type fonts would appear if dropped onto the banner using a computer graphics program. Also the "U" seems to have been flipped horizontally as it is thinner on the left than upon the right, indicating that each letter was dropped in separately and then fitted into space.

Figure 4 shows "Made in" which has been enhanced to reveal a halo effect around the lettering which is very typical of computer generated graphics. Apparently the area beneath these letters was doctored to remove markings and then the letters were dropped in using a computer graphics program.

After making this discovery for myself I wondered who is this person Kevin Frayer and what other photographs has he taken? Also I was curious why a major media provider like the Associated Press would distribute such photographs internationally and take them as genuine when they were so obviously faked?

A search on the Internet immediately revealed that Kevin Frayer had published other photographs which were suspected as having been manipulated. In A Reprise: Media Photo Manipulation by Ricki Hollander there is a photograph by Kevin Frayer of a picture of a Lebanese woman among bombed out ruins. This same or very similar type photograph was also shown among ruins in a different setting suggesting such photographs have been planted or other wise manipulated. (See photo below).

Figure 5 shows a photograph submitted by AP photographer Kevin Frayer on July 31, 2006. The caption reads:

A critical review of this sequence of photographs reveals that a number of photojournalist photographed the same dead baby at different times, that the scenes of what some have termed the Qana Massacure which sparked riots by Hezbollah supporters at the United Nations building in Beirut were staged and reinacted by Salam Daker, 39, Head of Operations for the Lebanese Civil Defense in Tyre, to project Israel as baby killers and do not reflect truth in reporting.

Clearly this indicates that Kevin Frayer is submitting manipulated photographs to the Associated Press and that these are being used as propaganda to sway public opinion and perhaps effect political decisions. In fact, according to Ricki Hollander, Kevin Frayer's photographs are not the only ones out of the war torn Lebanon that are being questions. Apparently their is a cottage industry of fraudulent photojournalist taking picture and then using computers to manipulate them, submitting them to news services, probably getting paid handsomely for their forgeries and building a reputation for themselves.

Ricki Hollander states that, "Reuters was forced to withdraw over 900 pictures taken by Adnan Hajj after Charles Johnson of the Little Green Footballs blog exposed the fact that the news agency’s photographer doctored images he had taken of the Israeli/Hezbollah war, darkening and enhancing smoke spirals in the photographs."

Figure 7 shows a photograph doctored by Adnan Hajj which was removed by Reuters along with over 900 other photographs by Adnan Hajj. On August 9, the New York Times published an article about Adnan Hajj's doctored images, entitled "Bloggers Drive Inquiry on How Altered Images Saw Print"

Given the fact these manipulated photographs and their captions tend to slant public opinion and view Israel and the United States as villains, I would seriously question the ethics of the Associated Press and other news services in distributing such doctored photographs. This is akin to creating a great fraud upon the America public and the international audience! How many people around the world will look at these doctored and manipulated fraudulent images and get the impression that America is the great Satan that Islamic fundamentalists would like them to believe it is?

News services need to begin questioning the authenticity of photographs they publish and at least have them scrutinized by experts to determine if they have been manipulated. Apparently many photographs are submitted by free lancers who are bias in their reporting to the extreme that they doctor and manipulate their images for political or propaganda purposes. The fact that these photographs are then being distributed around the world by agencies like the Associated Press and Reuters makes them puppets on a string, being exploited by photo terrorists!

The real story here may not be the photographs we are seeing so much as the lies we are being told by the photographers submitting manipulated photographs to the world press. It is certainly realized that when terrorists take a hostage and make a video of their heads being cut off or them being shot, that this is done for propaganda and to terrorize the world. It may not be so obvious that when free lancers from a war zone submit photographs with cut lines that are anti-American or anti-Israel, that these are manipulated photographs; that they are lies told and propagated by those who are hostile to the United States and our allies.

The war on terrorism involves not only a war of weapons, but a war for the heart of humanity. Such terrorist organizations as al-Qaida and Hezbollah know that they can use propaganda to sway world opinion as well as to raise money to support their terrorism. When faked and manipulated photographs are given the stamp of approval by major press agencies which beam them around the world , then are shown to people in a position to contribute money, these images help collect donations and fund future acts of terrorism. Therefore the distribution of fraudulent and manipulated photographs by the major press agencies is contributing to the coffers of terrorists organizations.

This practice by major press agencies of permitting terrorist or terrorist sympathizers to use the media to distribute manipulated and/or fraudulent photographs and/or video around the world needs to be stopped. By letting our enemies, the enemies of democracy, use the media to distribute their lies around the world is contributing to our own destructions.

Such corruption of photojournalism is scandalous! At least one other professor of journalism agrees with me. David D. Perlmutter, Professor and Associate Dean for Graduate Studies & Research at the University of Kansas School of Journalism & Mass Communications, has an outstanding piece on the "Fauxtography Scandal" entitled, Photojournalism in Crisis.

I am a strong advocate of a free press and as such I understand that to remain free the press needs to remain credible, honest and true to its subscribers, and not act as a puppet for terrorist or enemies of our state and nation. Certainly the old adage, "Do not believe everything you read in the newspaper," is true when it comes to journalism in the 21st Century. In fact, I plan on giving every photograph I see by Kevin Frayer and others in Hezbollah controlled areas a very close look and doing the same with any image that is associated with an anti-American or anti-Israel caption. You might be wise to do the same, least you want to be brainwashed by al-Quida, Hezbollah and other terrorist organization supporters and sympathizers!

How to create your own electronic newspaper

Many people who enjoy reading begin their day by reading the newspaper, viewing the morning news on television or listening to the radio while driving to work. More and more I find myself turning to the Internet for my daily dose of news, given that it is now possible to read newspapers from all over the nation and the world on line. Plus one may customize the type of new they receive. For the computer literate and Internet sauve, reading the newspaper is not what it use to be.

Certainly when there is a breaking story of significance, like the murder of six-year-old beauty pageant queen JonBenet Ramsey, by the alleged child pedophile John Mark Karr, reading such local newspapers as the Rocky Mountain News gives one a perspective upon events which are often not covered by local media which rely upon the wire services. This is especially true in the case of such big stories as 9/11, as local media is able to give an in-depth slant to just about any story and show how it effects people who may be thousands of miles away from the event. A prime example of this is how the war in Iraq or international terrorism effects millions of Americans half way around the world from the bombs and bloodshed. If one wants to know what people in across America think, they can just log on the Internet and go to any on-line newspaper to read articles full of local color and lore as well as the opinions expressed by local contributors.

Also there are many bizarre news reports featured on the Internet which make for a quite amusing, if not incredible read. For example, Darmin Garcia of Milwaukee fell into a vat of hot chocolate, became stuck and was rescued by police after a two hour ordeal using cocoa butter to thin the viscous goo. (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Aug. 19, 2006).

Another sweet tooth tale comes from Fountain Valley, California, where Martucci Angiano discovered a vision of the Virgin Mary in solidified chocolate droppings! I wonder, will this soon end up on eBay where in 2004 a piece of grilled cheese from the Golden Palace.com sold for $28,000 and in 2005 a honey-mustard pretzel believed to be shaped like the Virgin Mary holding baby Jesus sold for $10,600? When one has access to the entire world press, there is never a lack for unusual, mind boggling and fascinating tales. In Turner, Maine a "hybrid mutant" was found dead by the roadside, sparking a rash of speculation that it was everything from a feral dog or hybrid crossbreed to an extraterrestrial. Photos of this strange animal taken by Michelle O'Donnell were featured in The Sun Journal, Aug. 18, 2006, and distributed across the country by the wire services.

The world's media is full of bizarre tales of animal hybrids. A tigon, the cross between a male tiger and a lioness, which has tiger stripes and the physique of a lion was reported from Australia, photo by Toresten Blackwook of the AFP being circulated world-wide by Getty Images. A wholphin, the cross between a whale and a dolphin, was born at Sealife Park in Honolulu, Hawaii, in April, 2005, photos taken by Lucy Pemoni, beamed around the world by Reuters. On a plantation in Barbadose a zonkey, the hybrid of a donkey and a zebra, was born in April, 2005, it picture by Chris Brandis widely circulated by the Associated Press. April hunters in Canada killed a huge bear; DNA tests showed that the bear's mother was a polar bear and its father a grizzly bear.

Perhaps one of the most unusual stories that I've recently read is that of a woman who was attacked by a mannequin and sustained injuries sufficient to file a claim against J.C. Penneys Co. According to reports Diana Newton, 51, was shopping for a blouse and when a sales clerk was attempting to remove a garment from the mannequin an arm flew up into the air striking Newton in the head as it fell causing injury. So much for Sir Issac Newton's proof of gravity, that everything which goes up must come down! (Los Angeles, AP, Aug. 18, 2006)

America OnLine(AOL)at www.aol.com provides Top News, Political News and Strange but True news all of which were consulted in writing this article. In addition to these favorites of mine, there are news feeds for sports, stocks, parenting and virtually every other topic imaginable. This makes it possible for everyone who loves a good dose of morning news to put together their own electronic newspaper!

For those who love to interact with the press by sending letters to the editor or participating in on-line forums, the Internet offers a wide range of opportunities. You can find links to all newspapers through the MAP (Media Awareness Project), at Boycott Made In China www.byteland.org/boycottchina, a political activist site which protest the brutal killing of tens of thousands of dogs in China, which will enable you to search for the URL or Internet address of any existing on-line newspaper, as well as to locate the email address of editors.

Scammers/spammers now posing as political activists and attorneys

I've seen a lot of variation of African scams, but now their is a version going around from persons claiming to be a political activist and attorney, proposing to want to secure campaign funds. I received a copy of one of these which is shown below entitled:

I have received numerous such scam letters in the past, perhaps owning to the fact that I have authored many articles and my work is widely published on the Internet along with my email address. Thus I guess once on a scammers shit list, always on a scammers shit list!

These type of scam letters are a real nusance. I'm not sure how to stop them. Anyone who honestly posts their email address on the Internet is obviously going to become a target of scammers, phisher and other low life. Given these people use free service providers and are often located off shore, there is really no way to stop them except, perhaps, by having unlisted email addresses.

My reason for reposting this particular scam email is simply to alert others to the fact such emails are a scam. If you get such an email probably the best thing to do is ignore it and/or block email from the address of the sender and/or any other reply email addresses. You may also report these type of scam emails to your ISP (Internet Service Provider) that they may block them from everyone's email.

I have seen so many variations of these scam emails that I wonder who has the time to write thest things? Obviously there is a cottage industry of scam artists that has grown up in Nigeria and other third world countries. What is so pitiful about these scam artists is that if they spent half as much time working to create real business opportunities on the Internet they could probably grow quite rich.

I guess there are just people who like to try to rip off other people or get some sick pleasure out of creating and shoveling piles of dung in the form of scam emails. People who seek to hurt and harm others, who seek to scam others out of their money with get rich quick scheme offers and ploys, really are a degenerate sort. It makes me wish there were some sort of electronic rat trap people could install on their email boxes that would automatically fire back a reply in the form of a killer virus that would wipe out all the data on the hard drives of these scammers and phishers!

Yesterday (July 28, 2006) I watched Oprah's show on ABC focusing on raising the minimum wage and advocacy for universal health insurance/care. Oprah made her point by featuring the lives of women who were employed and earned minimum wage, demonstrating how this was not sufficient to provide all the necessities of life, concluding that action was necessary NOW to provide a LIVING WAGE, enough that people could provide adequately for themselves and their families; that also it was necessary to provide health insurance/care for everyone in America.

I was so touched by Oprah's program that I made a series of designs to promote raising the minimum wage and support of universal health insurance/care. I urge that everyone in America help in raising awareness and promoting these vital causes by purchasing these design items and displaying them pomanently in your home, school and/or place of work!

It is vital that all Americans stand up and help promote a raise in minimum wage and support on universal health insurance/care. As Oprah pointed out in her program, there are over 30 million American who earn only minimum wage. This is not enough to support an individual, much less a family! It is a disgrace that employers are paying such low wages and have to be compelled by law to provide a decent living for workers!

This is one of the great injustices which exists in America. We are spending billions and billions of dollars to fight a war on terrorism and help rebuild Iraq, yet we are not helping our own citizens taking action to wipe out poverty in America! It is critical to the quality of life, indeed, to the survival of our nation, that both states and the federal government act to immediately rectify this situation.

I join with Oprah is asking that everyone write their state representatives and members of Congress. Urge that states raise the minimum wage to a reasonable living wage, that all working Americans may earn enough to provide a good quality life for themselves and their families. Both the states need to do this as well as the federal government.

What is a reasonable living wage? Quite frankly this varies over time, especially with inflation. And do you know what, most state legislations and the US Congress regularly grant themselves pay raises but neglect doing the same with respect to the minimum wage!

The fact is no state is paying a minimum wage sufficient to enable working Americans to get out of poverty. And no state is providing universal health insurance/care for its citizens! We are one of the riches countries in the world, yet we are failing to provide over 30 million citizens with an income that will enable them to get out of poverty!

This is why I have joined with Oprah to advocate support of legislation to provide a living wage and universal health insurance/care. I have created a series of Money Ware Designs which feature $10,000.00 bills to attract attention superimposes upon a network symbolic of people coming together to support raising the minimum wage and providing all citizens with universal health insurance/care that poverty in America may be wiped out!

Oil profits up! A Call for Holy War!

What do you think of this? Today's headlines (26 July, 2006) read that oil profits were up and that a call for a wider Holy War has been issued by al-Quadae's second in command, Ayman al-Zawahri. So here we are with the fanatical terrorists from oil rich nations calling for Holy War while we all are paying higher prices for gas at the pump! On the same day this ding bat calls for a Holy War against the US and Israel Exxon Mobil announces a whopping $10.36 billion second quarter earnings! What's going on here? What is the connection between a Holy War and higher gas prices?

I don't know about you but I smell a rat! How can the oil companies justify such high prices for gas and be making billions upon billions of dollars in earnings hurting everyone who has to pay these high prices while we are all being targeted for destructions by Islamic fundamentalist terrorists? Those setting the price of oil are putting power and control in the hands of the filthy rich brokers of war and terrorism!

The US needs to get tough on the oil companies as well as upon nations like Iran who are sponsoring Islamic fundamentalist terrorists and let them know that we refuse to be black mailed. Every American, in fact the whole world, is being held hostage by the oil rich nations who are using the price of oil to support their anti-American regimes and extort money from the global community, money which often ends up supporting terrorist groups or hostile governments which in turn results in loss of American lives when we send young men and women over seas to fight terrorism.

Moreover, a sane approach needs to be adopted by all peace loving peoples that prices not be let to go through the roof. It is easy to say that the market is like a wild animal out of control without a master. But the fact is we are the masters of our own fate and least we control the market it will turn on us, bite everyone in the ass and destroy us all.

Those who can afford higher gas prices may only experience a small discomfort, but for the vast majority of the world's population, higher oil and gas prices mean they sink deeper into the pits of desperation. Part of the problem is that America is not joining in the battle to wage a counter Holy War against Islamic fundamentalism, to advocate the abolition of this fanatical religion all together.

I say that those Islamic fundamentalist who advocate martyrdom in the name of Allah are satanic in nature, utterly evil and helplessly insane! All who believe and preach such crap as spouts from the mouth of Ayman al-Zawahri and Osama bin Laden need to be silenced! This may require drastic measures, certainly weeding them out and bringing them to justice, not before Islamic courts which are a travesty of justice, but simply put under the gun and blown away!

Such measures are needed to stop future acts or terrorism against the United States and our allies and ultimately save American lives. But this is not all we need to do. We need to implement educational campaign in all Islamic nations to teach democracy and tolerance for all religions, especially Jewdeo-Christian religions. Presently in some nations, like Afghanistan, if you convert from a Muslim to Christianity you are regarded as insane. In fact the exact opposite is true. The fanatic who hold this belief are the ones who are mad!

You may not agree with me. Plenty of people go through their whole lives letting others beat, bully and batter them. But I am not one of those. I learned a long time ago that the way to stop a bully is to fight back, and if words and logic will not stop the bully you have to use your fists or whatever other weapons and methods of defense is required. Therefore I do not turn the other cheek if someone assaults me; rather, I fight back with whatever means is at my disposal.

This same approach needs to be applied to dealing with Islamic fundamentalist terrorists. This is NOT a Republican vs. Democrat issue. This is a life or death issue, a matter of survival. Either we join together regardless of our political party associations and destroy Islamic fundamentalism, its advocates, preacher and distributors, its growing armies of terrorists, or we suffer and die at their hand, at home or abroad.

We must remember that religious freedom is established by the United States Constitution for American citizens. In other nations such as Iran and Syria there is no such thing as religious freedom. If you are a Jew or a Christian you are regarded as the enemy by Islamic fundamentalist. In fact, Ayman al-Zawahri and other Islamic fundamentalists teach that America is the "Great Satan" and Israel must be destroyed!

Iran is currently engaged in effort to build a nuclear bomb so that it may provide this ultimate weapon of mass destruction to terrorists, that they may destroy Israel. The missiles being fired into Israel today may soon turn into Scuds provided by North Korea via Iran to terrorist in Syria or Lebanon. We cannot allow this to happen so we must act through whatever preemptive show of force is necessary to prevent this from ever becoming even a remote possibility.

The United States and Israel are the ones being targeted by Islamic fundamentalists as they know that we are the ones who recognize them for what they are, pure evil. If we let the archaic evil forces of brain washed Islamic fundamentalists continue to spread their sick ideology around the world unchallenged, then it will only lead to wider war and unending international conflict -- and ultimately to a nuclear confrontation between Israel and its enemies, those terrorism sponsoring states like Iran and Syria.

I suggest that we send a clear warning to Iran, Syria and other terrorist sponsoring nations to cease and desist from their sponsorship of terrorism, that this be done by exploding a nuclear weapon in the Persian Gulf or Caspian Sea north of Tehran at night, as a test and a warming, such that all can see we mean business. This should be accompanied by a warning that if Iran and Syria do not cease and desist from further sponsorship or terrorism and halt all efforts to enrich uranium and obtain the materials required to produce a nuclear weapon, that we will provide them with one on site and in country!

No doubt this policy of carrying a big stick and shacking it in the face of Iran and Syria may result in an out cry from other nations, but these other nations are not the ones being targeted by Ayman al-Zawahri for destruction via calling for a Holy War. America and Israel are the ones being targeted so we must act with a show of force to motivate our enemies to stop their threats, to round up terrorist themselves and alter their ways if they want to survive.

It would be nice if diplomacy would work, but unfortunately terrorists understand only one thing, that which they preach. Instead of wasting thousands of American lives fighting and dying in the great sand boxes of Iraq and Afghanistan, a simple display of nuclear force would go a long way to encouraging our enemies to listen to reason. It worked with Imperial Japanese in 1945 and would probably work again with the Moslem fundamentalist nations. In fact if we let them know that we will turn Mecca into a nuclear radiation graveyard that cannot be safely visited for 100,000 years, I'm sure the leaders of the Arab world will start taking America seriously and step up their own efforts to rid their nations of terrorists, despots and radicals who are leading them down the road toward their own doom and destruction.

Certainly this form of saber rattling will get Ayman al-Zawahri's attention. It may even stop this towel headed nut case from spouting his Holy War crap. On second thought it probably won't. Ayman al-Zawahri has been brainwashed to such an extent that the only thing which will shut him up is a new ass hole in this turban!

Now please don't misunderstand me. I have nothing against the vast majority of Arab people. It is only the terrorist and those who support terrorism that I admonish. Using greater and over whelming military force to destroy an enemy is a basic principle of warfare. Military force is used to preserve one's own life and advance ones own cause. As Ayman al-Zawahri is calling for a Holy War against the United States and Israel, I am merely suggesting that we make it quite clear we will use over whelming military force to destroy any and all who dare threaten the United States of America, and that this over whelming force will include demonstrating our thermonuclear weapons capabilities.

When one sees a great fireworks display they soon learn to respect explosives. This is why the military has long used exhibit and display of its weapons system in action. By learning our capability the enemy learns to respect our rights. This same strategy has been used by other nuclear powers including Russia and China and most recently, India and Pakistan. I suggest we use a display of our nuclear capability with the explosion of an announced nuclear test in the Persian Gulf or Caspian Sea to send a clear warning to Iran and Syria that they better deal with their terrorist themselves and with their terrorist sponsoring regimes before we deal with them ourselves!

This is a radicle approach and represens perhaps a new form of diplomacy. Certainly it violates above ground test ban treaties, though certainly this could be done as an explosion under water. I would be curious to know what others think? Would this be going too far? Would exploding a nuclear device in the Persian Gulf or Caspian Sea serve only to unite the Arab world against Israel and the Unites States? Would it be better to explode a bomb in the Dasht-E Kavir region southeast of Tehran? Or should we just make a preemptive strike and destroy Iran's nuclear plants? Or maybe you think we should we wait until Iran develops a nuclear bomb and gives it to terrorist to blow up Tel-Aviv, New York City or Washington, D.C. before we respond? What do you think?

Many elderly citizens can not speak for themselves. They have been removed from society, locked away behind electric doors, warehoused in nursing homes, power and control of their lives, income, property all taken away from them.

This is a terrible situation. Yet it is happening to hundreds of thousands of elderly Americans. This is a great travesty of justice. No one is free in America so long as the parents or grandparents of any one of us is warehoused!

I call for all people who love America and their parents or grandparents to take a stand with me and work to rectify this situation. It is a crime against humanity to warehouse the elderly!

Take a stand today and begin to rectify this terrilbe situation. There are better ways to care for the elderly than to warehouse them in inhumane institutions.

This is a issue which Democrats, Republicans, Independents and non-party affilates should all support. It is an issue which effects all citizens for we each have parents and/or grandparents and should we be blessed to live long enough we will all one day be elderly.

I urge everyone to stand up and be counted. Visit ERA (Elder Rights Association) and
learn what has happened to one elderly American who has been exploited by the broken elder warehousing system!

People need to read these stories and become aware of what type of abuse and exploitation is going on in these often archaic hell holes that call themselves nurshing homes. They are not nurshing homes ... they are death traps!

Who will be your guardian/conservator?

Please support an amendment to the US Constitution and to all state constitutions which says the following:

The right of each person to designate, specify and appoint their own guardian and conservator and make this assignment for their dependents shall not be abridged.

Please write your state and US congressional representatives and ask them to support the ER (Elder Rights) Amendment and to introduce legislation to adopt the ER (Elder Rights) Amendment.

Many states now permit nonrelative judges to make appointment of guardian and conservator in the event one becomes incapacitated. This allows the courts to decide this issue instead of individuals and citizens at a time when those who are having their fate determined by the court are not in a position to challenge the court's action, resulting in extreme opportunity to exploit the elderly. This is exactly what happened to La Faye S. Lynch and which is happening to thousands of elderly Americans.

The best way to change the way this form of corruption and exploitation of the elderly is to change the law and to make it the law of the land that each person may designate their own guardian and conservator. The present system of allowing judges to be the final denominator in designating a guardian/conservator promotes corruption such that judges, lawyers and even care providers will act so as to exploit the elderly for their own selfish purposes and gain. This is a travesty of justice which makes all elderly potential slave to the broken elderly care system.

I urge everyone to contact their state and US Congressional representatives and begin the push for a constitutional amendment such that the right of each person to designate, specify and appoint their own guardian/conservator and to make this assignment for their dependents may not be abridged.

We must each act now through petitioning our representatives as when we are old it will be too late for us to get the laws changed. Please Support the ER (Elder Rights) Amendment that the all Americans will be free to determine their own fate, even when the become incapacitated.

After what happened to my dear mother, La Faye S. Lynch, I became aware of how corrupt the elder care system in Alabama was. In talking to others I have learned that this is a problem nation wide, that the elder care system is broken and corrupt across America, in large part due to the fact that people do not have the right to appoint their own guardian/conservator or make this designation for their dependents.

Please help me rectify this situation. I have started the ERA (Elder Rights Association) and am working to make people everywhere aware of the fact that the elder care system is broken and corrupt; that we need to change the law of the land that the rights of people cannot be abridge simply because they grow old.

Everyone who wishes to help is encouraged to make a donation. Please help as this will give me the financial means to make people aware and to work for reformation of the presently corrupt and broken elder care system.

If we stand silently by making excuses nothing will even change and the power that be will continue to abuse and exploit the elderly just as classroom bullies beat and batter children who are smaller than them. All powerful judges, lawyers and greedy care providers who have no hearts nor love, are largely motivated by money and seek only to line their own pockets via robbing the estates of the elderly. Because the elderly often cannot speak for themselves the corruption in the system goes unchallenged. The result is elderly who are warehoused, confined in tiny concrete cubicles, noisy cells, the dying packed together with the dying, locked behind electric doors under 24 hour watch by security guards to prevent their escape.

The glutton who are lining their pockets with the fortune and wealth of families have no compassion nor will to right this wrong for it is making them filthy wealthy! This includes lawyers, judges and care providers who are milking the elderly for every last cent they can get. They even sue those most devoted family members trying to help their elderly parents and grandparents, destroying families in the process. It is justice gone nuts and, ironically those who do the injustice turn around and try to convince everyone else that somehow those who love their elderly parents and grandparents are nuts for wanting to help them!

This is essentially what happened to me when I stood up for my own elderly mother's rights and fought the system. Efforts were made to defame and discredit me with lies, deception, false claims and charges. The result, however, was that learned just how corrupt and broken the system is and am determined to see those who have hurt and harmed me, my dear mother and other elderly shall not be permitted to continue their bullying and battering, will be dethroned and themselves admonished for their evil deeds and crimes.

I am quite aware that to change the system one needs the means. Money is power and without this it is difficult to change the system. Therefore I urge everyone who is aware of the corruption in the elder care system to help me by making a donation. Give however much you can and I will champion the cause for the rights of all elderly Americas, that one day all forms of corruption may be vanished and vanquished from those charged with caring for our elderly parents and grandparents.

If you cannot help by making a contribution then volunteer to promote the ER (Elder Rights) Amendment. Volunteers are needed in all states. Also everyone is urged to write your state and local representative to support the ER (Elder Rights) Amendment to the constitution of both your respective state and the United States. Only if this is done will power and control be taken away from judges and be given back to the people where it belongs.

I began The Pyrotechnic Pen some years ago as a collection of editorial letters which had been submitted to and/or published in newspapers around the nation. These letters are available for everyone read and review. Enjoy!

This present endeavor is to continue the process of self-publication in the form of a blog that will enable immediate availability by readers.

Warning: I am a liberal, open minded person. Often I have a different way of looking at problems and issues and may express original, very creative ideas. I often use my pen, AKC pc, as a sword, indeed as a tourch, to enlighten and inform, as that most powerful and persuasive of weapons, to strike a deadly blow at conservatives, at ignorant fools of folly, among which include the likes of President George W. Bush as well as terrorists around the world.

But more import is the fact that I am an advocate for the down trodden, for children, for the elderly, for those who are mentally and physically challenged, for those suffering from poverty, abuse and exploitation. I am also an advocate for animals, their health, care and welfare through the promotion of animal rights and efforts to educate and inform the general public in these regards. I cherish the natural environment and abhor how it is abused and exploited by people for their own selfish profit and gain!
